For sure. The badge and the number should just be available to buy one time only and be available for every ship in the game automatically. It should be compatible with every camo that you already own and permanent camo.

I agree with everything you suggested. I think a frag counter that can be added to any camo would definitely be something I would buy (assuming a reasonable cost which 5k steel is NOT reasonable). Needs to be gold or silver if they want me to buy. one suggestion to add, maybe make the frag counter upgradable. Have it update in port at the low end but give an upgrade option to update in game. Something like, buy the counter and then after say 20 more kills it will start updating in game. Something to give a little grind to it. Only one thing I disagree with you about, that is one FUGLY camo. That has to be the most god awful ugly camo ever. WG has come up with ugly camos in the past but that one takes the cake. Ugliest camo in the game BY A HUGE HUGE HUGE MARGIN. In case its not clear, I think its an ugly camo lol.

So firstly I can kinda see the thinking behind WG's decision here. It's a brand new mechanic and idea being implemented (albeit a great one) but weren't sure how well it would be recieved. Making it 5000 steel for 3 legendary ships makes it a very niche market. If a lot of that market decide to spend their hard earned steel on it means this idea works and more like it are very plausible. That being said I agree 5000 steel is very excessive for something that in all intents and purposes a simple item. I would love to see more dynamic cosmetics like this appear but make it much easier to obtain and for a broader spectrum of uses

Even if they are just testing the waters and seeing how it would be received, it still would have been better if used for gold or silver rather than steel. I dont feel many would spend steel for a gimmick even if they want the gimmick. Like me. Steel is too hard to come by. I like the idea of the counter, give it to me for gold, silver, research in the bureau, or grind (like the epic mods) and I'd go for it. And remember, its not 5000 steel for 3 legendary ships. its 5000 steel EACH for 3 legendary ships for a total of 15000 steel. Thats HALF the cost of the Missouri. Even if it WAS 5000 for all 3 ships, still WAY too expensive. If only 10 people speed the steel does not mean it is a flop of an idea. put it where most can get it, not just a select few and THEN you can tell if it is worthwhile. Steel is NOT a good guide.

Steel is the most expensive currency in Legends currently... so charging 5000 steel for a camo is insane.. Campaigns are currently the best way to earn steel but the max per 5 weeks you can earn this way is 2500 and that is if you buy the campaigns out day 1 which is usually 27,500 gold Even then it'd be 2 months to earn the steel to buy a camo... Not to mention $300 to buy the campaigns day 1... So yeah a bit ridiculous don't ya think?

I'm honestly so happy to hear someone else that feels this could of been done in a better way. Also I know you talked how it's over priced. Which it is but I think you should of brought up the fact it is double the amount the colbert project was. So it's more expensive than a legendary boat is and is even close to the same price as the Murmansk. I've got an idea for 5,000 steel. Instead of a camo you get an armament for your ship in the form of a giant extend-o-glove. It can extend 15 kilometers and biff the enemy ship into oblivion with one punch. It takes 3 minutes to reload. The other idea is a giant chainsaw that's attached to the bow of your ship. Hit the "B" button and watch your ship and saw buzz ships in half for 5 minutes.

On a side note about camos, it would be great if we could buy permanent camos for the newer t7, t8, and legendary ships in the store that matched the rest of that ships nation.

Idea: make the camos doubloons or high silver cost. The ones that bought it for steel should have an option in the store to refund/exchange it for the new currency. Also what I think would be a great new addition with the camp would be if it showed the medals you earned like. So it would have the dev strike badge and then a counter next to it.

I have the frag for my Shim. I actually like it, BUT my thoughts on the matter are as follows. How about a win-win for Wargaming and the players ? What I mean is more folks would get it (and even at 5k) if your ship could "improve" with the more kills you had. For example (with the Shim): How about every 100/500 (whatever) kills, you get a small upgrade in speed ? or a quicker re-load time ? or reduced repair time ? or turret traverse speed ? I would play much more to get the upgrades that the frag camo would provide.

I'm a 3D Modeller Texture Map Designer Graduate Diploma in Maya with 30 Years Experience and my honest opinion on Wargamings skins are this. 1. The skins take 5-10 mins top to make depending on whether they are matched with the OBJ seamlessly with the ships template. 2. WoWs skins that are just one layer of PNG without any bump or reflective or refractive maps are so simple a 5 year old could probably make them a lot better with more creative flair. 3. A Skin of that type in my line of expertise would only cost realistically £5

The argument I could see them using for updating the frag counter dynamically: fighter jets don't update their victory/kill marks until after the battle and return to base. Or, more applicable: ships don't get their battle ribbons/battle stars until after the battle. FWIW, I don't agree with those - it's a video game - but I can see the argument being made.

I think that this expensive price is a good move. It's just a cosmetic stuff, so no pay for win, and it's very difficult to obtain, no money for it, just experience. I love it. Although I don't like the fact that is counting both AI and standard kills.

5000 steel is a ridiculously high figure for the average player in my humble opinion. Moreover, setting mission requirements that lead to games consisting solely of shima’s and yammy’s , on both teams, is a great way to kill the matchmaker ( and fun ) at a tier for a week or two.

Reason being is that no pilot was out there painting his fuselage mid combat and so no sailors would be out there painting the bow of a ship mid combat.

First, it is a show-off camo, so if you want to inform everyone about how good you are, you must be ready to accept the steep steel price. No, I don't want its price lowered or to be on every ship because there is already enough toxicity, and those ships with the low numbers, regardless of whether they were doing well or not, will be the fingers-pointed targets. In fact, I would like this camo to be available to you on a certain ship ONLY after you have achieved a kill threshold otherwise either reveals that you are in an early stage (for a TT) and/or you are still inexperienced with it and either of these is desirable to be publicly revealed. I don't find either a big issue if the camo itself does not update in real-time because even in reality this is not happening (you have to confirm the kill after the battle in order to paint the extra scores).

You say that like experience matters in this game. I think even WG admitted they give new or bad players better rng. If anything I'd rather focus down ships with big numbers on their hull. Either my ship will perform better shooting at him or I'm helping remove a better player if rng actually is the same for everyone (it's not).

@@177SCmaro I haven't seen any post/announcement confirming that rng is better for those with low stats. Going relentlessly after a high number is not self-proofed the right play. In the same case, people spot a CC on the opposite team and throw themselves for potential ego praise. Also, people will begin to go on purpose after the killing stats so decline to shoot an opponent till they have the chance to steal...err.. "secure" the kill. So more bad game-style experiences, more frustration, and so on. The exact same was happening on the WoTanks with the kill X opponents missions.

@@michaelfarmakis2963 I was told a WG rep mentioned it concerning World of Tanks. It's a common enough....phenomena...that it's earned the sarcastic title of "bot protection". While, of course, I can't prove it's a fact without getting into the code of the game I've observed highly suspicious "r"ng to that end (bad players often seem less likely to take heavy damage/become weirdly difficult to finish off (I refer to them as "zombie ships") while making mistakes and more likely to do damage despite things like aiming poorly/not knowing where to aim) on countless occasions as I'm sure most people have whole have played the game for a time and gotten relatively good at it have noticed. It's kinda hard not to see sometimes, imo. As for the player behavior or etiquette i.e. "stream sniping" cc's and the like, what do you expect from modern gaming? People are shitheads sometimes, especially when anonymous. My point was that, at least in my case with regards to the kill count camo, I'd rather focus down a good player as either he is cocky enough to pant a huge kill number on his hull, and if better players are "less defended" by RNG that mean my ship will do more damage to him or, if that's not actually true, I'm still removing a *potentially* good player from the enemy team which makes it more likely my team will win. He might as well have a bullseye painted on his hull with a low number but especially with a height number. I don't, however, stream snip. I don't think I've ever even been in a game with a cc even if I wanted to. I'm just taking a page out of the American Revolutionaries playbook where they often sniped officers first as they strutted around on horseback as an easy target before targeting the common soldiers. In chess, if given the chance, it's often more valuable to take out the queen then a pawn, am I right?

As a top streamer, perhaps this might benefit Wounded Warrior, our dear lost friend, as well as the Warships Community. I could even see some cool advertising if Spartan Elite might Livestream the semifinal round or some such. Here goes (it's long and I am sorry) Proof of Concept: Ethan Obenaur, AKA RebelShadow, 21 year old Air Force vet, died in February in an accident. He was a veteran Warships player, an awesome young man, and a member of our clan. His family prefers any remembrances and/or donations be related to Wounded Warrior. We are proposing to have a World of Warships Legends Tournament, in honor of veterans as well as Ethan. Here are some high level details, to be discussed to unlock details: Highlights: 1) The tournament is to have 64 teams (minimum), with entry fees moderate (say $10 each or $30 per team), with all proceeds going to Wounded Warrior in Ethan's name. 2) Ideally the tournament could be held on dev servers, but if that is not possible, to be held in and around the Arena Season. If during the Arena season, 2 rounds each Arena season with 2 days to complete. 3x2 = 6 games, with fits a 64 team bracket. Single elimination, 2/3 matches with verification process to be defined. IF we could use dev servers, then we could go to 128. 3) We engage streamers such as VI Hipper, Jankenomics, Ghost Games, AAron, TacticAngel, SpartanElite, etc. showcasing the games on KZbin or Twitch as appropriate. 4) We use a Wounded Warrior link for donations in Ethan's name, to enhance the donations for non-playing teams. 5) A few big donors are set to match any and all donations by members, to greatly increase the donations to Wounded Warrior. 6) We talk to Legends and see if they are willing to put up some cool prizes for the winners (i.e. JB Black, Cool Camos, etc.) 7) Streamers advertise, and push the game, the tournament, the cause of Wounded Warriors, as well as Ethan RebelShadow. 8) We as veterans and contributors to World of Warships legends, come together in a common cause and celebrate the cause of Veterans as well as a game that we enjoy. Requirements: 1) High Profile Streamers and Top Teams get involved to promote the tournament and the cause of Wounded Warrior. 2) Everyone (Warfare At Seas as well as friends) pushes the message out to the community and crowd source marketing. 3) Wargaming supports with some combination of Dev Server, Prizes, and perhaps even sanction the tournament as a cause celebre. 4) Wounded Warrior helps us out with a trusted organizational structure (link and collection portal) upon which to ensure that people know that the Cause is legit, secure, and guaranteed to go to veterans. 5) Someone runs the tournament, and ensures that the rules are clearly understood, and everyone trusts the tournament process. 6) I might even get a US Congressman, former Green Beret, to help us out and do a recording for Ethan's parents, as well as the community.
