I’m 67 years old and back in the old days ozark trail knives were garbage but now they’ve really stepped up their game I bought 4 small fixed blade knives and I’m impressed with them ❤

I just got one about an hour ago. Opened the box and it easily shaved the hair off my arm. I’ve gotten plenty of knives that have come dull straight out of the box so it impressed me. Not the greatest knife in the world, but seems solid. We’ll see how it holds up at work.

Best $10 you can spend on a knife right now. I bought one and then 5 more when I saw how good it actually was. I knew they would sell out like the first Ozark Trail axis lock, so I wanted to have replacements if I lost or broke mine. Not to gouge folks with high resale prices.
@Thomk121Ай бұрын
Should have just bought a $50 knife and gotten a knife that will actually last. I guarantee these Ozark trail knives will wall apart soon if you use them for anything other than opening packages.
@YCIGAFSNАй бұрын
I picked up four of those OTs. Three are still sitting in my knife drawer. One had a little stick in the lock but after playing with it for a while it worked itself out. I've been carrying one for a month and it does pretty damn good with what I have thrown at it so far. Still shaving sharp. Been cutting paper, cardboard, opening boxes, blister packages, heavy plastic bags with the twine reinforcement, string, small rope, cut up old t-shirts for rags, and sharpened a few pencils. I even cut through a soda can just to see how well it would do. It was like cutting butter in death valley in early August at high noon. I may have missed a few things it has been used on so far. For $10, it is a beast.

Yes I love this OT D2 and can’t wait to give out the other 3 as Christmas gifts to my son and close friends. What I learned is not to pry things with it because the blade is thinner than the Benchmade Bugout, and the OT blade will break. However is it worth spending so much more for a Benchmade? I love Benchmade knives but when a $10 knife is this good,how should companies like Benchmade react? They need to respond to the market, either lower their prices or raise the bar, maybe do both? Fierce competition, same thing happening to Leatherman. China’s manufacturing is getting better and they predicted that would happen.

get a bottle of rit dye (the dye more for synthetics version). clean the scales with hot soap and water, dry, then submerge in an 8:1 solution of water and dye heated to just under boiling. thirty seconds to a minute or two and you're done. rinse, dry, enjoy your knife's new color scheme. costs maybe five bucks and ten minutes out of your day. did mine with the sapphire blue, came out a nice deep purple/navy blue color. much better than safety orange.

I watched a review on this. The guy did a full heavy duty review of this and some $90 tactical folder. It went toe to toe until the very last test when he was using the tip of the blade to pull Staples up out of plywood. Then the knife failed the test was the tip of this blade broke off. Still can't beat their knives I have a Ozark trail folder a little older model. It has held up extremely well

Ganzo 924, 925, 727s and Kershaw Misdirect. All of these are better built but on initial action all of those knives are still not equal to the Ozark trail and they are all at least twice as much. These are just some of my more budget knives.

That's not just Walmart or even Chinese companies, that's almost every company on earth. If something sells well, they will definitely raise the price. If they get a good enough reputation and some brand loyalty, they'll definitely start cutting corners and lowering the quality, relying on people to buy it anyway. There are a few companies with owners that actually take pride in their products and service, but most will do the least required to make a profit.

You put it through a tough test. I just used mine at work to open boxes, cut nylon straps, and cut cardboard. After a couple of weeks I noticed the blade had noticable up and down and side to side wobble. It would tighten up slightly if I rotated the locking bar. The other thing I noticed was the blade is no longer as centered in the handle as it was when I got it. End of the day it's a $10. Knife. Is it worth driving all over town to get? Absolutely not. Is it worth an additional $6.99 to ship it to your house? Absolutely not. There are better knives for the same money or $5. more. I was happy to see the Kershaw Hotwire come back in stock. Not so happy that it's now $14.97 up from $9.97 It's my EDC knife. Like it so much I snatched one up at the 15 dollar price.

A few friends picked them up - they all developed pivot wobble (for lack of a better term, they developed blade play on 3 different directions) and the lock bars are taking visible damage. That shouldn’t happen ever, let alone after only a few weeks. Instead of buying one knife that will wear out (and become dangerous, a lock bar taking damage is a really bad sign) just spend the 30-45 bucks and get something from qsp, sencut, CJRB, honey badger, real steel, steel will, ruike, etc that will feel better in the hand and won’t wear out after a couple months.

Does anyone have a solution for the blade wobble these have? Every ozark I've bought has had solid blades except this one. I love the knife. I really think if I bought a bugout I'd kick myself .
@Kev32411Ай бұрын
Just tighten it if you have the tool. Honestly, it's made to just buy another when it wears down. They should make it so, if you send your knife back, they would send you a new one at a discount. After watching the video, these are probably best used as disposable throwing knives once they take so much damage.
@ofthedawnАй бұрын
@@Kev32411 can't tighten them. They're tightened all the way.
@just9911Ай бұрын
@@ofthedawn the only real option that I’ve heard MIGHT work is swapping out the bearings for oversized washers. But the washers are going to cost you more than the knife did. A few friends picked up these things when they dropped to see what the hype was about. They all have bad wobble (side to side blade play, front to back play, and up & down play) and the lock bars are taking damage as if they weren’t properly hardened. This is just from a few weeks of light use. Totally unacceptable at any price point. They are to the point that I am definitely worried about lock failure. I sharpen and maintain the knives of a lot of my friends & family (I’ve got weapons-grade autism and I find the process of sharpening to be highly therapeutic) but I refuse to touch these things now. I think it’s only a matter of time before there is a lock failure and someone gets banged up.

@@jkstdstang lol I own four figure knives and I still have two of these OT knives and they're more impressive to me than almost anything premium that's come out in years. Expensive knives are supposed to be good. Knives this cheap aren't. Even the heat treat seems acceptable. One of mine took a hair splitting 15 degree high grit edge and is holding bite pretty well so far two weeks later. For mass production D2, that's very good. For $10 D2? It's incredible. It's fidgety, ultra thin hollow grind slices as good as almost anything I own. I threadlocked the pivot and mine is still rock solid, no play after thousands of cycles. Zero complaints. It's not hard use, it's not a pry bar, it's a high performance cutting tool. We all have our favorites of course, but to me, a *real* "knife guy" just loves knives. Period.
@jkstdstangАй бұрын
@@jdisdetermined I checked one out when they first came out but it was a little different model in g10 with a 3” blade and crossbar lock for 6 bucks. It was good for the price I suppose and maybe these are even better idk. Be interesting to know who they are using for the OEM. i also own plenty of premium blades from all the top production brands CRK, Shiro, Hinderer, Koenig, yada yada but do appreciate good finds and have budget blades as well. I just know I wouldn’t carry or use an OT no matter how cheaply acquired. I suppose they are good for some things, throw it in the glove box or a travel blade or give it to my boy or something, However I just don’t see the big knife channels covering the latest 10 dollar Chinese offering, i mean theres a new one every day but if people are enjoying them then thats cool too.
