Dude the lifting is bad ass I'd watch more of it. I'm a string bean myself but I can get stuff done around the shop. The gold car is sounding bad ass! I had a 940 heater core was blown all the way out in it i ended up hooking the heater hoses upto the ac evaporator and when the temp control was put to cold it had really good heat if it wasn't idling

I like how every time I think it's been a while, you upload a new video. At least we know you're doing fine, just a bit busy because of competitions, work etc. Keeping a reasonably stock 740 for daily use is not a bad idea, I really wanna see you rock some 16 valve! Maybe some knuckle mods for the occasional winter slide sesh. Of course you're gonna be full tuning & pulling interior etc anyway, this car will be bent in 3 ways to sunday within half a year etc (and if it isn't, just because you saw this comment, I will have done my duty lol)

Dyno before and after: pull the head, bust out the die grinder. Unshroud the valves and clean up the bowls of the ports. Maybe back cut the intake valves for better low-lift flow. Put a tiny radius on any sharp edges in the chamber to help prevent detonation. Add Cometic MLS head gasket for better quench and a marginally higher compression ratio. Basically see how much power you gain by maximizing the combustion efficiency and airflow characteristics of a stock head for super cheap. "Tight squish" turbo motor!

Maybe try out different intakes and exhaust manifolds for testing. Really cool to see some real data on the different changes people can make to the redblock prior to just using the parts cannon and seeing what happens.

I'm sure you're aware but whenever you need to limp a rod knocking car along you should unplug the injector for the cylinder that's knocking and it'll limp along a little longer. The other way is to take the cylinder completely out of the engine and block the oil passage for that journal :) The lifts were sick, congrats on 3rd place

hey, long time sub here. i have an idea for your new volvo. it would be great to see your perspective on what it takes to convert a stock 740 into a grassroots drift car/daily. ive wanted a 740 for a good while now and ive finally bit the bullet and put my car up for sale to fund a volvo. congratulations on winning strong man! i can tell youve got bigger even from just a few months ago.

I ran TJ springs in the rear for a while. If you live anywhere near an old jeep parts shop like I do it's easy to get them. They had a bin you could pick through bc I live in Colorado. I ended up undoing it though and buying a 4x4 😂

Sometimes the coolant cap will get stuck and not vent, and that might be why. It's pretty normal "maintenance" on these to replace it.

Clutch fan vs E-fan. People still argue about how much or how little HP a clutch fan absorbs. I'd also like to see a tight-quench E85 build just to see what can be done with a stock block, crank, and H-beams.

Wats up my guy! Your channel inspired me to get a 740😭😂. Im a Volvo fanatic thru and thru, just never really considered a 700 series, up until watching ur videos lol. But im having sort of an issue with a 89 740 estate that im considering getting and i was wondering if you had any thoughts! Ok soo, issue is that its having some idling and stalling issues. I'm convinced that the problem stems from the IAC valve because of the way the seller described it to me (idling fine at cold start, then after like 15-20 mins of driving or on warm starts, it begins the idling erratically and eventually, if not given gas the idle will drop and stall out. he also stated that he has tried cleaning it. He said it helped a little but eventually reverted back. Some of the parts he has replaced include a new fuel pump, strainer, filter, and fuel pressure regulator. Oh, and after it stalls, it fires right back up if given a little gas/ mashing on the gas. But of course these symptoms could be caused by alot of things and given that its a strong possibility its a fuel air mix thing, it could be the MAF or a coolant temp sensor too, soo honestly idkk😭🤷🏽♂️

If I have access to a 16v engine should I grab the whole engine or just the head and intake and exhaust? Was planning on just running it on an 8v block.

The 16v block is quite different to the 8v block, the 16v block uses an external oil pump for example.

I think it would be cool if you slapped in a diesel engine. Maybe a m57, om605, om606 or d5252t if you wanna stay Volvo. Would not really be so difficult if you put mechanical pump on them or use a standalone ECU.

Wondering if there is any advice for prevention of unwanted drifting/fish-tailing on my 1989 740 GL automatic (114 hp). I had another incident today, a rainy day.. where I am climbing a sweeping right turn on a steep hill, doing about 30 mph and to keep up the speed I put the pedal down and the rear lets loose a bit... caught it quickly, but its kind of disconcerting and potentially dangerous. Fairly new tires on the rear. Would hate to crash as the vehicle only has 97,000 miles on it and I really enjoy driving it the past 31.5 years.
