Hello from the Netherlands . on 3:40 that is also an old European style tachograph with a paper round disc had to be put in it to register your driving hours it records your driving hours , waiting time , rest time , load and time , and driving speed . who writes that with a kind of pencil needle on the inside. it was and still is legally required to use here. although the trucks now have a digital tachograph with a driver's card in it. this is by the way the type of style truck as they are still driving around and being made here in Europe. here you see almost no torpedo nose / American style trucks . if you are not going to make that rollback of this truck, it might be a candidate to make a dump truck for the "old metal waste" for yourself? thanks for the video . Sincerely, Hollandduck from the Netherlands

I've never seen one diesel powered. The Air Force had them but were gas and pretty slow. No big deal on base as you didn't want to get tickets with a military vehicle. I had enough excitement with the speeding tickets I got with my bicycle. Hey, I wasn't always a danged old cripple! At least the First Sergeant smoothed them over for me. He would laugh and tell me to slow down and laugh some more. Nice score on a sharp old truck. You sound like my 6yo grandson when I bought him a whole box of Hot Wheels........ LOL! Cheers Terry

Porter greetings.🇺🇸 Yep, I do remember those little cabovers. They were rather cool looking. A diesel & an automatic…whew! Does it take only 1 battery or 2? The fenders look a little rough but still in tact. Get that thing in the shop & do some body work before the rust takes over. That will be one sharp little truck, no matter what bed you put on it. 🤩 I finally bought another truck…1980s IH. It has a diesel & a 5 speed, but no bed. Working on getting it home. Love those older trucks! 🥰😎✌️

If that was mine. I would find me a turbo charged 7.3 to put in ot amd put me some 3inch straight pipe up behind the cab and clean it up and body work all the ruxt amd dents. Paint it back white and chrome all that stuff like the grille and the mirrors amd the bumper and prut some more modern axles under it so you csn pit aluminum wheels on it. And find a nice flatbed or something for it and have myself a show truck since those old trucks are so rare. Just saying guy. Thats a good okd rare truck that would make a helluva showpiece.

A cute little truck. There's one on KZbin that is a 5 speed column shift. The majority of the Cargo Stars I've seen are Beer/beverage trucks. The oil fill reminds me of how you checked and filled the oil on an old Emeryville. Back when Dad started in 19? He got stuck in a blizzard in one. Had to sleep on the doghouse to keep the wind from blowing it open.
@gregbrown49622 жыл бұрын
Nice old IH COE. I'm glad it's IH and not a C-700 Ford because you would have needed someone to ride on the back of the cab to shift gears for you. Their shift linkage is less than desirable.

It's a Tachograph , open it up there should be a key to put in the top and the front will swing down. on the rear of the face there is a place to put cards and in the body there are pins that write on the rotating card . It's a record keeping device . Check out our Aussie version of this truck . The Acco , only just out of manufacture in the last 10 years . Same sort of thing . Another great vid , thank you

that's a pretty cool old truck ,,I've always loved the cab forward trucks like these ,, i live in western iowa and they are all over around me as grain trucks ,,,i personally own 3 of these cab forward trucks but mine aren't as new ,,i have 2 fords and a GMC 6500 ,,the fords one is a F8000 truck tractor ,,formerly a Conagra shag truck made in 1978 ,, that one is currently in my shop getting it's engine replaced ,had a gasoline engine and it's getting a brand new cummins 250 small cam installed the other one is an odd duck it's a ford C600 it has hydraulic brakes and the engine is a Caterpillar 3208 turbo it was originally a grain truck but i converted it to a utility truck ,it has a light duty folding crane behind the cab which will lift 8500 pounds ,, it gets used for loading scrap metal and moving heavy stuff like logs ,, it's been a godsend with all the storms we have had ,, i do a lot of help with storm cleanup the other one i have is a GMC and it has a twin turbo 6V-53 2 stroke detroit ,, one of my favorite trucks to drive it was supposedly a fire truck originally , it's the only cab forward truck i have ever seen that is 4 wheel drive it was converted to a tow truck sometime in the 80s the truck was built in 1968 ,,it's a slowpoke on the highway even though it has a 7 speed transmission

In 1994 I took my class A license test with a 1985 GMC Brigadier Wrecker while towing one of those International cabover trucks. The one I towed had a dump box with plywood sides. The license examiner said we couldn't use that combination to test with for a Class A license..... We said, "okay, what license is required to drive that combination"? He said "it requires a class A". We said "okay, then you have to let us take the test with it". He finally agreed and 4 or 5 of us took our class A tests with that setup. Lol. I wonder what they would say if someone rolled in there with that old wrecker and dump truck nowadays? Lol
