Love to see more E21 content! I've been restoring one as well. Feel free to reach out if you need anything!
@henrymcgalem50063 жыл бұрын
I have a 1978 E21 that needs to be restored, I found out that mice or rats were nesting on the inside and have cleaned as much as I can on the inside, however the smell of urine is still there. How do I get rid of that? how can I make it so that these rodents won't nest there anymore? I don't have the money to get it restored yet so I just need to keep it as clean as I can in the mean time. Thanks!
@TaylorGoesFast3 жыл бұрын
@@henrymcgalem5006 yup, I had to do the same. Lots of shampoo for the carpet and patience. If all else fails, replace the seats and pick up new carpet. Entire carpet sets can be bought on rock auto.

How much did you pay may I ask? I saw one for 5k in my town with under 100k but didn’t buy
@Justiinkirk3 жыл бұрын
@@jessesward9429 just to give an idea, my cars exterior is in a little better than Harles but interior is a lot worse due to moisture getting in the cabin and seemingly soaking the carpet that was in it becoming a catalyst for the rusting process. The engine runs and is actually in pretty solid for 180k, no brakes and the rad is cracked. All things considered. Mine was 500 dollars out a guys front yard.

@@jessesward9429 I paid $2k last year for a rust free Nevada car - 1980 Hennarot, automatic with 122K miles - car had no interior though and racing buckets seats since the PO was going to turn it into a track car

Fuel tanks are not cheap - hope you can salvage them. I managed to get mine repaired here in the uk

We’re hoping to get the main tank plugged up / sealed this weekend *fingers crossed* ...if not I’ll have to figure up a fuel cell.

@@HarlesGarage friend of mine just had a fuel cell made for this reason in boot area - he said was based on a mk2 escort rally car unit .

Wow my gas tank had rust and water and bad gas in it, but nothing like the road tar yours seemed to have. These have two fuel pumps, a low pressure in-tank pick-up pump, and an external higher pressure pump, about 80 psi.
@HarlesGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it was bad. I could smell that mess for weeks. I’ve went ahead and got both fuel pumps and new lines. I’m going to flush out the hard lines. Hopefully putting it all back together by the end of the month or early February

Bro, didn’t you think to change the oil and wet the bores before you attempted to crank it over? I heard the rings, cam and possibly shells scraping for a good few seconds. Eeesh

You fixed the car in a garage/barn or outside? I do not have an enclosed space to fix a race car E21 and I am concerned to get one now or later...
@HarlesGarage3 жыл бұрын
Im working mostly in a garage. Did all the interior rip outside. When I finally get to the body work I'll do some of it outside to minimize dust everywhere.

Well the floors are completely rotten out and are about to be welded up. The rear of the body isn’t in bad shape. This car was going to go to the scrapyard so I am saving it and giving it a new purpose. I promise I’m not going to abuse this car , but I will have fun with it.
