THE MEASURE is SO good! And I love THE LAST TALE OF THE FLOWER BRIDE is incredible but it is neither YA nor a thriller. It's definitely adult and it's quite dark so I don't know where that reader was coming from LOL

I was going to same the same thing. It’s definitely adult. It’s even sold in that section. I think because she wrote YA before many will just assume that this is as well. I sincerely hope no one handed this to their 13 year old. 😂

“Hello, friends and enemies” is the perfect greeting! 😂 I read TOMORROW x3 last month and it’s one of my favorite books I’ve read this year so far! It was unexpected and I just loved the friendship, disability rep, and so many discussions of storytelling. I was so excited to read THE WRITING RETREAT, but I found some of it off-putting. I’m very curious about LAST TALE OF THE FLOWER BRIDE, which is the author’s Adult debut. It’s not YA. SEVERAL PEOPLE ARE TYPING is a weird sci-fi book that’s entirely in Slack messages (as you mentioned), but I found it to be weird and fun. It’s not my favorite, but I enjoyed it.

My TBR grows while watching. I also have no time for personal reading because I’m in college for my English degree so I’m already reading a book a week. My next class is focusing on author Samuel Johnson and contemporaries. Apparently he’s at the beginning of the gothic horror genre so I’m anticipating loving the class.

I loved the narrative voice of Everyone in My Family Has Killed Someone! It's written by an Australian comic, and it's VERY tongue-in-cheek and break-the-fourth-wall. It's one of the best murder mysteries I've read in a while. But it is also the start of a series, just so you know!

Greenwood is interesting. The first and last parts of the book are from the future, dystopian-ish society, but the meat of the book is a family saga. Just don't want you to expect the whole thing to be like the first chapter, but it's still a really great book!

The last tale of the flower bride is def adult. To me it read more like a gothic story with some slight horror but I didnt't get thriller vibes at all. Maybe mystery??? It most definitely isn't a romance story unless you think toxic relationships and obsessive behaviour are your thing 🤷‍♀ (I only mention this because Elliot Brooks said that the marketing was very misleading for this book and paints this as some grand love story) Personally I LOVED this book and gave it five stars, but for people who have triggers I would suggest looking them up first.
