In this video I go to Harry's Coin Shop and get an appraisal on some crazy coins that I brought in. I brought fake coins, ancient coins, rare silver coins, world coins, error coins, and even some gold coins as well. I was wanting to see if they would spot the fake silver and fake gold coins. I was surprised by the results of the appraisal and had a great time seeing the process. If you are wanting to take coins to a local coin shop or to a bullion dealer for appraisal then this is the video for you. I love making these coin shop videos and I hope you like watching them as well. Below is the link to the first coin appraisal video that I did with Harry:

The old coin is from the Mughal Empire time - (modern day India and Pakistan). The script written on it is Nastliq and the language is Farsi, probably the coin has the ruler's name on it as well. I can find you the exact coin era and rulers' name too, but similar stylized coins were minted at the same time in Ottoman Empire (modern day Turkey) and Safavid Empire (modern day Iran) as they also had Nastaliq script on them. The only way you can tell the difference is by looking at the name of the emperor on the coin and the value. I saw either 6 or 2 written in the Nastaliq script on one side which were followed in the old times for Turkish, Urdu and Farsi.

@theazeemhamid
@theazeemhamid Жыл бұрын
@@MrTruckerf It is definitely not a Greek or Roman piece. These coins can be sold for anywhere between 30 to 75 USD or even more for like 500 USD max depending on the condition and face value - which is subjective to the era and the emperors name on the coins.
@theazeemhamid
@theazeemhamid Жыл бұрын
I've also seen some being sold for thousands of dollars but they have to be rare and the rarity is subjective to when the coin was minted and which era. There were three-four types of these coins minted back in that era, in gold, silver, iron and copper.

11:45 The ease with which Richard did this was really impressive to me. Japanese is partially written with Chinese characters, and he knew to read them from right to left, as Japan didn't switch to left to right horizontal writing until after WWII. But then he also managed to convert the year written on the coin from a Japanese imperial era year into a western calendar year with seemingly no effort--- Imagine if you told someone "this coin was minted in the 36th year of Queen Victoria's reign" and they instantly were able to tell you that it was minted in 1873.

Good to see the old £1 coin again. You could spend these at the post office after shops could no longer accept them. You can still deposit them at face value in an English bank. 1933 was a short production year of coins. Even more so in the UK than US. Some pennies of that year are worth £100,000. Traditionally, a coin of the year was placed under new buildings as they were being built. There is a building in London with one of these under it!

Liquid solvent or oil can definitely hydro-lock in the die and produce that milk spot. The coin could also be "under-struck" on tonnage or "single-struck" when the process wants 2 or 3 strikes. Less common would be an "under-annealed" blank making it through the process, being too hard to generate the full relief at the given tonnage.

The English Pound coin is proof of how fast inflation can go, for I remember what we in the UK today spend as a one-pound-coin in the form of a one pound note and I remember my mother in law really upset about 'these dreadful silly little coins'.

@@SilverDragons47 No, English pound coin is no longer face value, it's scrap value on the metal. I tell you which coin never got effected by inflation: Silberadler! The old 5 Deutsche Mark Coin, that was brought into circulation in the early 1950s and then suddenly taken out in the early 1970s when the price for silver went to 40 per ounce. I think around 1972ish. That coin today still holds it's face value of 5. It contains 7 grams of silver on a total weight of 31 grams. Look at the 10 DM coin and that really never got into circulation because of the silver value going up and that was made in two charges, the first containing 625 silver and the second 925 and 925 is Sterling Silver. These coins, just as some of your American coins beat inflation and forever will do. Silver will go up and it's being kept down for good reason. For if silver ever was to reach its true value, we couldn't afford a toaster. Silver is an industrial metal for it conductivity. Right now the world wants to all solar power.. good for the ones that stacked silver for many years. But silver price is being kept down by ETF Silver, or the imaginary silver, as I call it. My advice is always: If you own silver don't tell 🙂 If the renewable industry goes on and as fast as it does.. they'll be running out of silver very soon.

@@xpdeus2fmf221 There's no way I'd hand my silver .. even if it's smeltered into a coin back to any bank. Politicians would get a hold of it and these guys have no idea about budgeting and householding. They always take out loans without asking if the population can afford the interest rates.

I used to love the pound note. As a kid, you would get one in a birthday card and have a little bundle that made you feel rich. Of course, as I went to work, I found breaking into £20 notes etc., one would end up with £25-40 in the things after working through the weekly wage. Today, I haven't seen currency as part of my daily life for a few years.

I am no coin expert but the coin that's unidentified looks like something of the Timurid Empire. The symbols and shapes looks similar to what was used in that era of coin making.

Silver Dragons that ancient coin looks like an Arab, Middle Eastern or African coin. It looks like a coin the British East India Company issued for Mombasa, a British East Africa port city, now in the country of Kenya. I have a coin that looks similar to it.

I'm very familiar with WN and some sellers are really bad with their attitudes. I think the BeachCitycoins Livestreams are head and shoulders above most of the others. Sometimes waking up the chat is just part of the process.

A few of my friends got into the crooked side of the coin business here in Ny. They were doing high pressure sales out of a boiler room. I’m guessing they were cleaning coins and passing them off as authentic mint condition. I also think they were guaranteeing a return which is illegal. The guy they first worked for got arrested more than once. They branched out on their own at one point. They were making quite a bit of money.

There arguably isn't much overlap between our interests, curious to have you recommended. Just so you know, i feel rewarded for coming here. On second thought i do have one "precious" coin - certainly precious to me, my granny had gifted it, saying it were the last piece of a once sizeable hidden stash - namely ten 19th century golden roubels. I store it alongside my loose change
