Totally agree with you on the yelping and rating of restaurants, especially when it comes to people mostly only leaving the best or the worst reviews. It's unrealistic for customers AND business owners to think that their business is deserving of 5 stars ALL the time. I LOOOOOVVEEEED this format of not blasting them publicly and of TRYING to find something positive to say even in the face of how bad it is. I could tell when your dad said he was more mad at the people for liking it than the chef who made it he as probably thinking "This is really not hard, I could teach that guy how to do this." So like they didn’t really spare their feelings. The son gave multiple hints as to where and what the diner could be. It's easy to find the name of the place if you type a sentence out of the reviews he showed, into Google, in quotes. No place with a 1.5 rating is going to be serving decent food, otherwise it would have an equal number of good reviews and they would even out to a 3. Why shouldn't people be warned of what they're about to waste their hard-earned money on? A restaurant is not entitled to my business and money.

What you’re saying about customers leaving good reviews versus bad reviews. Absolutely you are correct. This has been studied and is taught in many different business schools and economy schools. If you have a happy customer, they are still anywhere between 10 and five times less likely to leave a positive positive review somebody who has a negative experience is so much more inclined to share that negative experience. It is very similar to KZbin comments.
