I built a homemade ebike with a 1800 watt Vevor BLDC motor kit. This homemade electric bike is chain drive, with a brushless motor and 33 amp controller. All the original gears are on the bike, so you can ride like a normal 21 speed mountain bike but with a big boost.
Top speed with my battery and gear configuration is about 35MPH, it can go faster with some easy mods to the battery and motor pinion, but I ride normally at 30kmh top speed when using the motor.. I will make another post after some mods, if people watch and enjoy the video.
Motor kit: amzn.to/3VUDMBc
If you want more info on how to build a cheap homemade electric bike, check out my other ebike videos. I have built many different types of ebikes, and cover batteries, controllers, wiring, freewheel bearings etc.

250 watt geared ebike: • DIY eBike Cost only $1...
500 watt FWD ebike: • DIY ebike that's Front...
800 watt Alternator bike: • DIY Ebike using a Car ...
500 watt scooter motor: • My first DIY Hub Motor...
49cc pocket bike engine: • Pocket Bike Engine 49c...
Range of this ebike is limited about 24km 14 Miles, because I'm using four 12v 10Ah SLA batteries. I need to upgrade to a lithium ion, Lifp04, or lipo battery, but as of now cost is an issue right now. The bike and most materials were free, I was sent the motor kit for review,
I had the SLA batteries and paid about 24$ a piece, chain, sprocket and free wheel was about 30$. Why use a motor with chain drive, in my location hub motors are very expensive and the used hub motor kits are not available or the shipping is ridicules.
I understand not everyone can weld, you can mount a motor on a bike without welding. I only weld to make quicker and stronger builds, You could use steal slotted metal, the flat stuff with the holes. Also U clamps or exhaust clamps work well, round all with machine screws or self tapping screws. You can even use wood, the sky's the limit, If you want me to build one let me know in the comments.
Another bonus of a chain drive motor, with a lot of hub motors you with lose performance due to magnetic drag, depends on if your hub motor has a clutch or not. I can't have re-gen on this bike because I'm using a freewheel so the motor only engages when I apply throttle. I do not recommend building this, do not build this at home. The bike was driven on very quiet privet roads. This video is for edutainment purposes only, follow all local requirements.

Big thanks to my Subscribers! I have more projects planed, not just ebikes. Sorry I don't get into the comments very often, most of my allotted YT time is spent making these videos, and filling out everything. I don't get much of a chance to log on, but I really appreciate your comments and feedback. I do try and read comments while I'm posting a new video. If you have anything you want me to add in a video or projects you want me to try and build please leave them in the comments.
Peace

I'm considering building a electric doodlebug mini bike. But I'm a big guy like 355 lb. So I was thinking of using one of those reduction gear rickshaw 750 watt bldc brushless motors. So I would have a lot of torque for a pickup and could change the gearing for higher speed. What is the torque like on this kind of motor do you think I would be better with this or the reduction gear rickshaw style. Thank you. Also going with 750 watt brushless reduction gear motor is completely compliant with Massachusetts e-bike law as long as they don't go over 20 miles an hour on the street. So I was thinking just getting one of those controllers that stops at 1920 miles an hour and then has the off-road button. Do you think this style motor would have a lot of torque or would be better off with a reduction brushless motor. But you don't like to do maybe 30 miles an hour. If you give me a message and give me a quick heads up I would really appreciate it thank you.

Thanks!! 👍 not sure if the controller that comes with the motor would handle it. I was searching around for a more robust controller rated up to 72v. As of now I don't really need more power, just a better battery pack.

That would be nice, not sure if the controller can handle the higher voltage, it's rated at 48v max, I would have to check capacitor voltages

a normal cycle wont last 5 minutes at those speeds. they are simply not built strong enough to handle the wear and tear and will suddenly brake possibly with serious consequenses. fun whilst our still alive though.

Lol 5 minutes? What planet are you on. I know people that run these for years with regular maintenance and I also do this with a 4 stroke engine and my bike has lasted months on end doing thousands of miles. What are you smoking
@100musicplaylists3

@@str8xrippin with regular maintenance yes, the expensive regular maintenance disguises the fact that the parts are wearing out much faster and that's what makes it so dangerous.
@str8xrippin
@str8xrippin Жыл бұрын
@@100musicplaylists3 do you know what regular maintenance is? Every couple of months making that only few times a year maybe 4 or 6 times max and expensive? Dude I'm talking about greasing the bearings and doing chain adjustments, tightening nuts and bolts and maybe new tires once in a while. It's pretty much free. Have you never owned a bicycle before?

@@100musicplaylists3what the fuck are you talking about? Lmao. Bicycles are absolutely built to go 35mph regularly, I would even say that's the standard minimum, road bikes possibly built to deal with 40mph regularly reliably
