Buying a picture ledge was out of my budget so I decided to make it. This is perfect project if you're a beginner woodworker, it was fairly simple to make, and most of all you will find out if it was worth making or not....

I tried this a few years ago because I wanted a place to stand paintings. I wanted it to be 6 or 8 feet long but I found my wall wasn't straight so I could never get it hung up properly.

I challenge you to do the same again but with no screws, just dowels :D

That would eliminate the alignment problem with the long glue up, too.

@@heidihobson4525 Absolutely! You also get the added benefit of not having to fill screw heads and you can even use walnut or even brass dowels to add a nice accent.
