🌴 “ We’ll is Happened “ ! All the Stars must have been aligned , you got the boat project done and she’s looking great , as you’ve stood back and looked at her many times pondering on what to do and making decisions it’s finally paid off , there’s that special moment were the boat gets baptized and your first real cruise, it’s a moment you won’t forget ever , the sense of accomplishment and over time you’ll mentally and physically bond as the old boat will become part of the family and hopefully an air loom , it will create memories both on and off the water , as I said before in my past comments I’m a retired boat and yacht builder of 32 years , I’ve built a lot of boats in my time and for many different boat companies, it’s funny because I still see boats on the street and on the water that I made after all these years , there’s both a sense of pride and memory with something you’ve made still going through the test of time , your skiff will give many years of fun and memories and that sense of accomplishment, she looks great , now enjoy some time together, ha before the snow flies 😊👍🏼

I recently finished a Chester Yawl and it was a long but enjoyable project. The quality of the kit is top notch but the manual needs a complete update to align with the updated CNC components. I had purchased a manual for the Tenderly Dingy which was a great reference, more detailed and current. Glad I started with the simpler Chester Yawl. Great video.

@WayneTheBoatGuyАй бұрын
Thank you! I plan to spend some more time with a Peeler Skiff in the future (probably Spring). The advantage of building the Jimmy Skiff II as a first time build is that it is easier and quicker to build which puts the light at the end of the tunnel much closer! The advantage of the Peeler Skiff is that it is a bigger boat.

The paint is still holding up very well with just some light fading in places. It's great paint.

Hi Wayne, congrats on finishing the boat. The only note I think you should be aware of is that I believe the forward compartment you put your life jackets should be sealed and is part of the floatation of the boat. I would reach out to CLC and make sure that the boat has sufficient flotation with just the side tanks sealed. Best of luck.
@WayneTheBoatGuyАй бұрын
Yeah I have compromised the floatation, but compared to every other boat I have ran, this one has a whole lot more. This topic will be brought up in future videos.

How far from home are you thinking of towing it? We have good boating in Indiana... Monroe lake is very good (my personal favorite), and the Ohio river is a lot of fun too (but I'm terrible at docking in current). Being a smaller boat it probably isn't a terrible hassle to tow long distance... My boat (an old 16' V8 ski boat) does travel around the state but it's pushing the limits of my truck (especially if I hit steep hills). Have fun!
@WayneTheBoatGuyАй бұрын
It is easy to tow with my truck - the trailer is very under-loaded and the boat is under 200 lbs. I may only be taking it around Maryland, Virginia and Delaware next year - depending on how my old truck is holding up.
@erikjensen6503Ай бұрын
What a beautiful boat! Great work!! Only you know the imperfections, part of doing it yourself! What was the total cost to build? Class, plans, materials?
@WayneTheBoatGuyАй бұрын
The total cost really varies based on how people decide to build it. The CLC web site has many of the costs on there because some people just buy plans and source their own wood, while others buy the kit and have it shipped. I got the kit and then also took the class which is an additional cost. Also during the finishing process paints and varnishes can vary in cost. Choosing to to use two colors of paint and also varnish can be a larger investment of time and money for materials.
@erikjensen6503Ай бұрын

Q medidas tiene el bote y la madera d cuantos mm 6 ???
@000distructzeroАй бұрын
Wow! Nicely done! Beautiful boat! I have questions! Did you have to get a VIN or something similar from the state to register it? Have you had it weighed and had to adjust the axle to have proper tongue weight? And this is your new Venture trailer I'm assuming... It seems to have a long tongue. I bought an EZ loader a couple years back and it also seems very long. I see you have the swing away hinge as I do, but I've wondered if I didn't order the swing away, if the couple would just be moved back to where the hinge location is.. Making the swing option pointless.
@WayneTheBoatGuyАй бұрын
The kit came with the paperwork and a VIN - so registering was easy. I have not weighed it - but this boat is so light (under 200 lbs) that it probably can be placed anywhere on the trailer. I have trailered it on the highway a few times already and it feels like there nothing behind me and the trailer acts like it is empty (just bounces less). My trailer is not a swing away and I like having the longer tongue because I can flip down my tailgate to see behind me.
