The hum on the champ could be from the heater wiring. Try wiring it for by polar instead of grounding one end. Fender just grounded one wire on champs and other inexpensive amps. Use two 100 ohm resistors to ground for a center tap. If it’s STILL humming, try floating the ground to the cathode pin if the 6v6.

The Heaters didn't require a center tap. Its most likely because the B+ goes through the output transformer a bit of ac 100hz ripple is going to the speaker. the hum does not really increase when you turn the amp up.

wait...I thought all sharp tools and potentially dangerous items have been banned in the UK. Nice job on the amp.

Looks like a guality kit! Uhh I prefer belton sockets, I don't like orange drops! I prefer mallory 150's for fender circuits. Ant then mire mods like increased filtering, changing coupling cap values all to to furm up the flub and getting the bass under control when pushed. Oh and a switchable Nfb .

I ended up swapping it out for a 100db Eminence speaker, sounds great and being more efficient means It keeps up with the others in the band better !

Humm is probably from the ac suppy to the tube heaters.
