I was about to buy a GT a few weeks ago (onewheeling for 5 yrs) and was suggested to check this out. I was skeptical...ah another cheap attempt, but I'm so invested now! The transparency of your build process is epic. The struggles along the way, and the desire to produce a great product shine through and make me even more excited. Spreading the word! Keep the updates coming!

Im an electric longboard rider exclusively. I swapped with a GT owner I met one day down at the river. After 45 seconds I picked it up and could see the potential. After seeing everything Float Wheel is doing, I'm so stoked to buy one, and I'm spreading the word to flip other Electric Longboard riders, because both have their own niches. Keep up the effort!

Instead of trashing/scrapping the "bad ones", i would recommend selling them as B-stock in parts for people who wishes to use the parts in their DIY builds! I guess maybe you already thought about this, Tony?
@floatwheel Жыл бұрын
just few b samples, actually onewheel sold a ton of b samples during black friday, I bought few sets of XR bumpers at discount and they came in with lots of big crack on them. The ideal situation is that no bad samples goes into market because it has float wheel logo on it.
@JonXuereb Жыл бұрын
Companies often don't do this because a bad actor competitor could intentionally buy they bad stock to create bad quality control misinformation.

The comparison between the adv and gt will be super interesting
@chasekasperowski8253 Жыл бұрын
It’s physically got more power. Gt has a 18s 2p system, giving it 73v of power, the adv has a 20s2p system giving it more range and 84v of power compared to the gts 73v. I assume that he is using genuine moli p42a cells compared to the shit fm puts in there pack. Giving him more range and longevity than a gt pack. I also bet that the cells he is using will have a higher current draw then the gt pack

I dig the dyno idea, been speaking about it in onewheel and later VESC discussions. I was saying that some OW workshop would eventually get one for end to end testing. It can be very useful for testing and improving thermals for extreme cases (long, steep uphills) - both motor and controller. Easily compare motor, controller efficiency with different settings under different load. I know it's now ment for testing current generation, but I believe it's gonna make next floatwheel even better. Fingers crossed for your projects Tonny

@marcchristianalejandro1693 Жыл бұрын
Sorry if i will sound stupid. But can the floatwheel notnosedive? I know overspeed or etc will make the gear/system shut down. But will there be a way, a much safer way to stop a person from over speeding or doing to much to the board rather than having a nose dive and flying the person riding it.
@floatwheel Жыл бұрын
set pushback angle to 18 degree and pushback at 10mph
@marcchristianalejandro1693 Жыл бұрын
@@floatwheel yes i guess, but 10mph will be to slow for some. Well atleast thank you that there is that option.
@andrzejz8316 Жыл бұрын
It's not stupid to ask question. What you are asking for is physics not to apply really. The vehicle can only produce certain amount of torque and speed (varies on battery level). Think about it - balancing device controller can only spin motor faster or slower. Only way to prevent dipping nose is making motor spin faster. Pushback is also just accelerating to change the board angle (so it needs more power to prevent you from overpowering it...). So the only thing you can do is to have more headroom - use beeps and pushback to alert user to slow down - but it cannot force you to stop pushing front down and leaning forward. IF you reach limits the motor won't accelerate more as requested which results in nose dipping or controller to protect the board will limit / stop supplying motor with current - same result. I guess the default will be set very safely, but we all hope the ability to set all parameters as you want (as in other VESCs) will stay - so we can test where the limits of our stupidity are LOL If you are looking for safety balancing vehicles might not be the best bet - if anything fails or cosmic ray flips a wrong bit in a controller your nose will dip and send you flying which is just a part of this game 😂
@floatwheel Жыл бұрын
@@andrzejz8316 maybe we can mount a one time rocket down there in the nose and shoot u back up like a air bag🤣,or mount a deployable external wheel like on air plane, when u nose dive it sticks out to save ur ass. But really what we need is speed and power, speed and power is always the answer.
@Jdb63 Жыл бұрын
It has more power and torque than FM boards as well as extreme customizability of VESC to set your own warning boundaries so the chances of nosediving will be a lot less on these boards, but physics will always be there and balancing boards will always nosedive when pushed too hard.

Is there still stock to get DG01 cells if i order a board today ? Do i need to specify 'pro' batteries, or is it 'standard' batteries ?
@floatwheel Жыл бұрын
currently got another batch for us, plenty dg01 cell now. Order standard battery and you will get dg cells
@anupjsebastian Жыл бұрын
Hey Tony, I am a bit of a noob with the batteries. I might be simplifying but is the dg better than the pro battery, or just different? Is there a good, better, best order to the 3 batteries? I see the pro is priced higher still, so naturally you think it is better, but all your videos and website seems to mention the dg, and how good it is. Would be helpful if this can be clarified here or ideally on the website. I am very close to placing an order but understanding the options are a bit overwhelming. Thanks

How manny boards are you set to produce? And I am a vesc builder/ ridder. I personally have no problem using the vesc tool to program my board, however I feel that the vesc tool may not connect with the average ridder. How do you plan to get around this?
@Jdb63 Жыл бұрын
The boards are shipped with default VESC settings meant to feel similar to FM boards, so the tool doesn't have to be touched much if a casual rider finds himself with one, though I think the market for these boards will be mainly people who will be just fine tinkering around with the settings for awhile
