Maidhc from DPs here. You could make cycles after the first two by holding down index/middle ect and keeping the thumb, middle, ring, pinky that would require only to ring to get to 32/33 characters pretty easily. Also the tendons between fingers are occasionally not individually articulable, so it may make sense to build in input sanitizers to choose the "most" articulated. Alternative/phrase mappings with two of the gloves boggles the mind.

Such a cool project. I wonder if you considered a setup more like how a courtroom stenographer. I think it's more like a finger movement would be a syllable rather than a letter. You could write a whole word in 3 finger movements rather than 5+. But you know, gotta learn how to stenograph, it will be hard to show it off to most people. Nice to see you putting more videos up 🔥

Looks awesome, at first I thought the sensors registered how far they're bent so like you could fully bend for a letter and then bend another way for another but I thought that was really difficult for remembering all the alphabet and with the coordination lol. Way better system you have lol Altough could have been useful for the thumb to be able to do next and previous maybe Also, will this account for numbers ? Seems like you could just map another 2 sets quite easily

Yep! Unfortunately the flex sensors I used are a smidge unreliable in th3 sense that they dont have the precision to reoiably hit certain levels, so i jist opted for an all or nothing strat

​@izzitMichaela that's probably good enough. I think the actual use is where there is most room for improvement. You could do a morse like input but with more fingers, dividing the characters into a quad tree. Morse is a binary tree with max length 6 symbols, with one-of-four fingers input you can do 2 bit symbols and look up 8-bit ebcdic in just 4 symbols. Or if your ring finger is able, 4 bits or even 5 bits at a time is an option, for 14 and 30 characters per gesture (idle and next-group) being the remaining two possible gestures, probably open and closed fist.
