Im pretty sure the killswitch didnt activate because sometimes on impact or due to the hot engines broke the destructible wire, so basically its the destructible wires fault.

The reason why the kill switch didn't work is because the destructible wires were breaking when it hit the top so it only deactivated some of the thrusters.
