I am a full time online product salesman and fulfiller myself, and I decided to do some math on this video. At the time of this comment, using the current view count, I calculated that if 1% of the audience purchased a fork, there would be a little over $50k in profit, based on the industry standard of 30% profit margin per product. This is a pre-tax profit estimate with no overhead calculated. However, even if we factor in overhead, a likely low profit margin estimate, and my generously conservative estimate of 1 out of every 100 people purchasing a fork, it is still an incredibly impressive number. When you think of a salt fork, it seems obviously dumb and unusable. And the more you think about it, the more it appears realistic, cool, and actually a very good idea. Many comments have pointed out (rightfully) that this can make actual, real money, if you sell it to restaurants and as a novelty item. Well I hope with every fiber of my being that it does. We love you, saltfork man.

Great for a hot dry climate... but anywhere humid? God help you. 😂 I had a rock salt candle holder once. It pulled so much water from the air that it sweated brine and stripped the paint off my windowsill. You'd have to store your forks in a jar of silica packets, or your cutlery drawer would be a MESS.

I love this video already simply because of the title. It is worded in such a way that is as inviting as it is humorous? Like, what if many forks were made of salt? I also enjoy the use of "many" instead of all, implying that only some forks would turn into salt. Thank you Ben

i feel like the handle may go to waste. you could create one with a reusable handle where only the head of the fork is made of salt, and the handle could just be held in by friction or maybe have a screw on the end or something.
@willvan768522 күн бұрын
yeah, he could sell one handle with three or four exchangeable fork heads and it'll be a lot more worth for both him and the customer. in fact, the cuts will probably be a lot more easier without having to fit the handle in for each slice of salt. possible upscaling from 16 to 32 per operation.
@derpinator491222 күн бұрын
The problem with that is how you attach it. I don't think that the salt has the friction or strength to be a friction fit, and a screw would require a completely different setup and be harder to produce.

@Drake3333322 күн бұрын
@@partiallyfrozen3425 Since the salt fork melts away as it is used, it wouldn't be useful as a permanent reusable utensil like metal. Take-out or delivery from restaurants will often include utensils that are usually only used once. For the millions of take-out orders people get from restaurants every day, this could be a good alternative to the plastic ones that are often used today. I will say though that the places that use wooden ones are probably the better choice since much more wood is produced than salt based on a brief internet search. I could see restaurants that want to differentiate themselves offering this for their take-out / delivery instead. It would be cool to get salt utensils with take-out one day.
