In answer to your Q, Deli... As a Floridian I can tell you we have a lot of spectacular Mid-Mod homes all over the state, that are still maintained and beautiful to this day, but... The first mid-mod home was built in Denver, way ahead of it's time in the late 30's by an architect that trained in Europe. Europe is where the style originated. I believe that the mid-west was where the style started in the US, and it spread from there. It's just that Florida was, and still is, a particularly good place climate-wise to build and more importantly maintain homes of that style. No snow to destroy roofs that are flat, or with a low pitch etc, and that kind of roof also tends to weather hurricanes well.

Agreeing with another comment here. 🎃 A decoration is better than none. People probably think you’re not celebrating. You can simply have a small happy Halloween sign on your yard. Keep your porch lights on & perhaps enjoy a cup of tea with a bowl of candy outside? 😊 it should help them come.

Also agree with this, My kids know not to knock on houses with no decorations as we just assume they dont want to participate. Also we keep our decorations off while we trick or treat and then come and up them up and all the kids come. No one ever comes to us when there is no decorations.

In my suburb, people often just put the bowl on their porch or even on their fens with a sign. I feel like knocking is super uncommon around here

I’m in the US, put a lit jack-o-lantern out, set up my house so all the upstairs windows glow red…and still generally get no one. Last night I decided to also put the candy bowl out on a table by the road with the jack-o-lantern and finally got a total of 1 trick-or-treater. In a car. Pretty sure people just go to trunk-or-treat events because they’re convinced they’ll be poisoned or something if they go around the neighborhood. Do you know that despite urban myth and warnings, there’s actually no recorded incident of poisoned Halloween candy that wasn’t like…a family member?

I don't use CC but now I have to get these packs! The level of realistic details like the way things slot and little clutter items and swatches is just all so perfect. The overall design of this house is lovely and I'd totally play in it. A random thought I had when you were designing the gym/clutter room is The Sims really lacks in free weights (hand weights) which I would literally put in every build if we had them. Those kinds of items just bring it to the next level. Amazing job Deli and Little Dica!

I'm from CA and grew up around a lot of mid-century modern architecture mixed with Spanish mission and Adobe. I also grew watching a lot of the old black and white 40's and 50's svi-fi movies that had mid-century modern architecture. Most of those movies were set in the desert, Arizona/New Mexico, etc so I always associate this style as desert southwest USA. I don't know how correct it is but. Love the build! I have to say that my favorite item is the kangaroo(I love animals).

Idk about the customs where you live, but here, trick or treaters usually only go to the houses with halloween decorations out front - the decorations are a way to signal whether people want trick or treaters or not :)

On the note of the tiles in the backyard. My parents got wood look tiles in our backyard space when they were building our house and they have spent so much money and time trying to put things on them to make them less slippery and in the end we have these tiles with stuff that has come off most of them but there's still bits left everywhere so they look terrible and Deli is right, don't get tiles people.

Hey Deli, if you'd like to keep your tiles but make them safe, you can get tile etching, or an anti-slip floor coating. Also, if you wanna organise trick or treating in your area, try seeing if your neighbourhood has a Facebook page or if it's on the nextdoor app. Otherwise, you can pop a message in people's letterboxes. Up in Brisbane, we have certain neighbourhoods that do trick or treating, and they have rules about what you're allowed to give out (in case of allergies) and how to mark your house so that kids know you're accepting them, there. Hope this helps. ❤️

At our old house we had Hordes of trick or treaters. Every year we bought increasingly crazy amounts of candy in bulk bags and every year we still ran out and had to do a store run. But at our new house, we hardly get any. I’m hoping now that our porch light looks more like a porch light and not just a security spot light that we might get more this year.
