I Built a Luxurious Squirrel House

In this video, I show the process of building a luxurious squirrel house from scratch, and the joy of watching the squirrels move in.
Squirrels are fascinating creatures that are often overlooked in our backyards. I wanted to provide a nice place for them to nest and thrive. Using simple tools and materials & some help from others, I was able to do so.
The best part of this project was watching the squirrels move in and make it their own. In this video, you'll see the adorable moments of squirrels exploring and making the house their new home. It's truly heartwarming to witness their natural behavior up close.

You could go with Vinny, which is a diminutive form of the name Vincent or Vinnie. Or you could go with Lavinia, for Vinny is used as a nickname or again a diminutive. Or, you could just go out on a limb (pun intended) and call her Ralph or George..... why not. Why does she have to have some traditional female name. George would work anyway as a nickname for Georgette. I went to high school with a girl who was called George. She was just called George. We all called her George in school. Even the teachers called her George (as her request). She just somehow when she was little got tagged with George. She liked it.

I love that you did this for them (and yourself 😉 🤣) I love squirrels and chipmunks. I didn't use to. I only this past year developed a strong love for them. You should have made it a little easier for the squirrels to go from the trunk to the side of the box with a support that extends across the squirrel house and reaches out to the tree with easy access to the entrance hole.

I need Dave I live in NYC. I have a squirrel who I would love to make a squirrel house. Also give him a warm home. Because it’s been snowing freezing cold I see him everyday. I always buy him nuts for when I see him. Since he hangs around the building we live in looking for food. But it’s so cold I feel bad since it’s so cold, and snowy. I love this video! I have about probably 15 squirrels in my yard everyday and I think that is a wonderful idea. I feed them and the birds and I have become a 🐿️/🐦 🔭. I need to make one for my squirrels, raccoons are starting to come around, I need to make one for outside that the raccoons can't get to the babies. I have like 15 squirrels I feed every day & there are 2 little babies about 8 weeks by the looks of it & a pregnant mama in the mix. The baffle is the most important part.

You should have trimmed the branch that is almost touching your roof while you were up there, that's how the squirrels get onto the roof in the first place, correct? How did the squirrels get in the attic in the first place, did they chew through a soffit?

They made it through a hole by the garage, patched that up. & we also trimmed the tree, the branches we're definitely too long

I only see one problem with that squirrel house, and that is the latch. Raccoons know how to open a latch when they are born. It is the easiest way to break in. I lost a couple of my chickens with a latch like that. I tried a couple other latches systems, but only a padlock work.
