I'd like to thank my pit crew for today's perfect car setup, couldn't have done it without them. My pattern was GPGP - RRRR - PGPG. Thought it might give the best lines to save speed and on multiple passes gain speed going downhill. This track might actually be pretty fun in split screen with drafting and collision. GGs :)

Going by Nascar logic, you want to go into the turns(purple) then go outwards on the straights(green). Then you could just run a mid(red) lap when ever.
@FondlesHandles2 жыл бұрын
I think the best combo for the laps would be green, purple green, purple for lap 1, then red, red, red, red for lap 2 then purple, green, purple, green so you don't go up that much hill for the finish.
@afoxwithahat78462 жыл бұрын
The oval isn't big enough for that though, and the corners are too wide for their own sake
@louiscypher41862 жыл бұрын

nascar logic is all about managing your acceleration though, this is travel distance and turning as little as possible going up and down hill looses/gains speed, there is technically no max speed but anything over 200 suddenly starts getting drag applied at a rather exaggerated rate, only "friction" is when you are turning...or running into something so optimal lines would be about managing speed with the slope and the turning and the boosters compared to minimum travel distance, case in point that 1 second could simply be because warcans was not making as many steering adjustments through the course of a run and just plain turning less in slightly smoother lines, it can add up pretty fast even with all those boosters keeping the difference in travel speed from snowballing like with a pure gravity map.

The devs themselves told you the trick for fast lap: turn as little as possible, since you loose speed only when you turn and when you go above 200. Your fastest lap was the one where you cut the corners as straight as possible.
@tomsterbg81302 жыл бұрын
Yeah he's too focus on strategy than speed management
@steeljawX2 жыл бұрын
Yet at the same time, the dev also said that if you're in the lowest part of a turn you're further into its gravity pull and you'll lose less speed through it. Meaning if you just go wide and as straight as you can through a turn, you're gonna end up in a bad position at best and crashing at worst. Actively trying to turn as tight as possible in banked turns is apparently the fastest way to take those according to the dev. Its when you have the choice of going straight or turning and adjusting that going straight is the best option. But in short, all that means is that theoretically if you were to do all green check points, you'd have your slowest lap time and if you were able to do all purples, you'd have the fastest lap time.

either the game would need that functionality or for video purpose everybody would have to video their own gameplay
@UthacalthingTymbrimi2 жыл бұрын
This would be great, but not easy to implement. Unlike Trackmania, Zeepkist doesn't have deterministic physics, which means a replay of another player's inputs doesn't result in an identical lap on your instance of the game. This is also why no-input tracks are borderline impossible (KAN tried making one a while back, it tested pretty well for single player mode, but only worked for a small percentage of runs on multiplayer, everyone kept randomly crashing out).
@irigamoi2 жыл бұрын
I think a really good idea for a track (or a track building session with you, Kosmo, and Dapper) would be some sort of labyrinth/maze course, where you have to find all of the checkpoints, collect all of them, and then find the finish line. I think that would be cool.

@jaunusender61662 жыл бұрын
I think the most natural line would be to come in hit the green purple green purple red for a lap then purple green. The rectangular shape of the track would curve your eliptical, and you would end on a green which is already at the highest-energy point. But because you came out it at such a natural angle there's a lot less work put in because it's a straighterline w/o unnecessary turning. So you have the 200 boost pad that pushes you into the finish line in a straight shot.
@ThatOneGuy0772 жыл бұрын
Literally sat here drawing it out. I feel purple red green would be the best cause the pattern works out to keep momentum consistent. And the last green will direct you towards the finish. I first thought green red purple but that'll force you to lose momentum and cost valuable time to get to the finish on the last purple.
@skylersmith94652 жыл бұрын
On the starter line go to the left right off the bat and gain speed since it more steep and you can gain a speed greater than 148. Though just speculation since you could maybe just jump the hill.
@JonWilsonPhysics3 ай бұрын
It would be very interesting to make a really, really wide banked straight track, with the start and the finish up at the top of the bank, and no checkpoints. Then you'd have to choose how far down the bank you'd go to gain speed, and when to turn back upwards for the finish. Balance the speed increase against the increased path length. It's the classic brachistochrone problem!
@sashadomo31002 жыл бұрын
If you took the boost pads at an angle wouldn’t you technically be on them for longer and thus gain more speed?
@DigitalJedi2 жыл бұрын
Ah the old trackmania strats. I think so unless the game just adds speed as an impulse at the first contact with a booster.
@UthacalthingTymbrimi2 жыл бұрын
That would probably be true for a single booster, but for this track kAN placed multiple boosts at each checkpoint to guarantee 200 speed no matter what. In another vid I think he said if you clip 8 boosts together it guarantees max boost even from a standstill.
@KJFellie2 жыл бұрын
one thing is for sure, you're gonna lose time if you ever try to do a purple to purple, because that corner's too tight for it and you have to either swing wide or bounce. In your test run where you did purple first, you avoided that problem. Warcans's method does logically sound extremely efficient.
@ClementinesmWTF2 жыл бұрын
Unique was correct about the “gravity well” stuff. The pattern shouldn’t matter too much except for minimizing the magnitude of turning radius (ie purple-to-purple would be the worst turn possible). The real solution is to get as straight a line as possible while also dipping as low into the bowl as possible for speed. You had a few runs where you did well, but there was way too much squiggling and turning for you to get a good a time as warcans
@CathodeRayKobold2 жыл бұрын
You should do this concept again, but with no boosters. It's a balance between keeping your speed by gradually descending inward, while not drifting SO far down that you miss a checkpoint. Call it the toilet bowl challenge.

Sorry for taking a second comment, but how about another themed challenge, but you all take a week to work on your tracks. The reason I suggest a week is because the theme should be "subverting expectations". Make a trick track that really looks like you're going to do one thing but either drops or bumps you some other direction and it just keeps doing that over and over and over. Like an insanely large jump that you just end up driving down instead of ramping off. A loop-de-loop that is actually a jump. A banked curve that will go into a wall, but if you run up and over the side you'll hop onto the actual track. Things like that that you would assume at a glance be impossible, but it's more of you just need to think outside of the box. Don't assume anything because it's all a lie, except the checkpoints to anti-Dapper every course.

My gut tells me that the fastest route is a spiral. Zeepkist doesn't really have air resistance - you only lose speed from turning or going uphill - so every time you switch from left to right to alternate colors you lose speed. Going 2 Green, 2 Red, all the Purples, then back up through the last 2 Red and 2 Green means you only make one major turn when you start going back up the spiral.
