Which means that 15 cylinders would have been ideal. Either doing 48 degrees offset between each cylinder (going up to 720-48 for the last) with a firing order of 1,2,3,... Or 24 degrees offset between neighboring pistons (which will take you to 360-24 degrees) and you'd need to make make the firing order 1,9,2,10,3,11,4,12,5,13,6,14,7,15,8. And for a 16-cylinder engine with an offset of 22.5 degrees, the firing order would be 1,9,2,10,3,11,4,12,5,13,6,14,7,15,8,16.
@davidannen74482 ай бұрын
Oh dang is that what's wrong with my 18-cyl? It runs OK, it just took a decent amount of throttle and head tuning to get it to idle.
@amagicion51302 ай бұрын
Assuming the game treats these as 2 stroke pistons, the initial 16 piston setup has an issue with timing/firing order, which then got duplicated for the rest. With the setup you used, you are giving every cylinder a powerstroke on the first revolution, then an exhaust stroke on the second, rather than half and half. Correcting this would also remove the need for half degrees, as each offset would be an additional 45 from the previous rather than 22.5. This may also be part of why you get those popping sound effects when the engine is running LOL. All that said, if I am wrong and the game treats these as 1 stroke motors, then your setup here is correct, but the I4 would probably be improved by using 90 degree offsets rather than twin 180.
@Pystro2 ай бұрын
That's the rough idle that was noted at 13:52.
@bobhopman46482 ай бұрын
2:29 to fix the half a degree timing discrepancy just run one at 22 degrees of then the next at 23 degrees off then 22 then 23 again.
@Pitstopcomponents2 ай бұрын
Unnecessary, a inline 16 would have a 45° crank angle, not 22.5... its a 4 stroke after all.. so it needs two revolutions per powerstroke. An inline 4 has not 90°-->360°/4... but (360°*2)/4 = 180° a inline 8 has 90° --> (360°*2)/8= 90°... the way he built it, it fires 16times at one revolution, and zero times for the second revolution, since all 16 cylinders are doing their intakes simultaneous--> staggered but all within 180° from each other, which also is the rotational angle per stroke...

@AstridDaFox2 ай бұрын
@Pitstopcomponents well for his I4 he did a 4 stroke firing pattern which makes it impossible for the pistons to fire as a 2 stroke because it's not their turn yet, so they basically just don't fire for one rotation. If they were 4 stroke pistons then in this video kan's engine would've had major problems because all the pistons would fire in order for one rotation and then all not fire for the next rotation which would make the engine lurch. So on the bright side kan made the equivalent of a 4-stroke 320 cylinder engine

For example, you can right click the engine max rpm and set it to 20000, if you want, physics might not like it, but it's possible and if don't go crazy high there's no issue.

@kAN Gaming , your crankshaft angles are wrong. Its a 4-stroke, not two... there always have to be two pistons at the same position, but one does compression while the other does exhaust... your math probably was: 360°/16 = 22.5° , but since its a 4 stroke(2rev. per cycle) it should be (360°*2)/16= 45°... your inline 4 also has 180° not 90°... an inline 6 has 120° not 60°... for having them stacked *10 it will be less of an issue if they are then staggered to each other, but maybe you now got it running with delays from firing, because all 160 pistons do their intake and compression within 1 rotation, and none ignition and exhaust...
