the game not only needs a new category for decals and dirt, but also, the dirt, cracks and cobwebs should have negative envoirment, so they are actually something that bother the Sims and that you need to take it off

I love the idea of Laird doing Home Chef Hustle stuff funded by her stolen bottle of nectar and getting back into her dumpster diving hobby. I dunno if it was intentional, but you might want to add a fire alarm and sprinklers. Sprinklers would make sense in a former commercial space, I think. Very excited for this though! (I also 10000% agree that we need a separate category for decals. If Maxis doesn't do it, hopefully TwistedMexi can make it happen in BBB)

@AKA_Studios the sneak out function really only works if you get the prompt to sneak out from another student. You can use the window in any lot, but Sims will only use it if they can't get out any other way. When the sneak out event happens, you can actually click on the window and a sneak out option appears, without the event, the window doesn't give you the sneak out option.

Hey, James. Since you're quite an active builder I wanted to point out one little thing I noticed when you were placing down wooden floors. This is nitpicking at its finest but please bear with me. In most historic builds, wooden floorboards were almost always placed perpendicular to the wall with windows, so the floorboards run towards them. That was because wood is a living, breathing material, contracting and expanding in time, depending on air moisture. Having floorboards run parallel to the windows made the irregularities more visible due to shadows created from the sun hitting the floorboards, thus it was avoided. This is especially true for narrow builds like townhouses or shop houses where the side walls were the load-bearing ones carrying the weight of beams, and floorboards were placed on the beams perpendicularly. Maybe something you can take into account for additional realism when building in the future 🤓

Yes, you can enter build/buy mode and buy stuff for shared area, as long as you are loaded in your own unit and not visiting someone else unit. And as long as you don't try to structurally change other units. For example, you can change the doors between shared areas, but you cannot change the doors to a unit someone else is renting. You can repaint exterior of shared walls, but not the ones for other units. You can also upgrade appliances. The most annoying part about shared spaces is that you are pretty much the only one who bothers to clean them. And other renters keep starting to make cakes and then just leave the batter out. Well that and radiator fires.

A lot of places do programs where first time homebuyers can get a historic or blighted property for $1, and then the buyer has a year to bring it up to code. You could start your Let's Play with a barely liveable old home/complex, and then instea of saving up to buy a rental your Sim could just slowly fix things up as they could afford to and go from just having a bare spare room for rent to eventually restoring the whole place into apartments.

What I'm thinking is that I could use for rent with the university pack. The thing i always hated about the uni pack was the accommodation options. I'm thinking for rent could be great. I may have the shared facilites be the kitchen, lounge and bathrooms. The units could be the dorm rooms, this way you could have several households in the same dorms without having to join the households. If you had multiple sims in a household you could just make several rooms into one unit.

I think the woodworking table is is gameplay that would get boring to see after a couple of episodes if I'm being real, because it's an old element of the game that many of us used so often. She could have an "Appliance Store" where she takes crummy objects and fixes and upgrades them to work on her Handiness and then sells them?

@DoveJS
@DoveJS Жыл бұрын
James, I don't recommend increasing the number of Sims possible on a lot for one reason: the Sims become buggier the more individual AIs the game has to control at once. It might sound funny at first but they will actively struggle to respond to anything or take care of themselves because of lagged or buggy queues plus all of the expansions adding in things (turn off NAPS for sure, don't allow any pets or water balloons although adding in the water slide would be funny and an homage to the old one lol.) I also predict a bunch of Sims will be in sync with certain actions which could break immersion. This can already happen with 20 Sims on a lot but admittedly your family reunions weren't so bad while you had boosted the max number of Sims in a household. I still predict it won't be much fun but feel free to test this first with Sim Science! Maybe your PC can handle it better and maybe the game has gotten better about juggling a ton of Sims. That said, I love the idea of using Home Chef Hustle to make the money to buy or build her own apartments and if Lairdy focuses on woodworking and cooking for the Night Market stall, then maybe Wren should do dumpster diving, theft, and if you're willing to go back to such frustration, fabrication and the freelance career that uses it! (Alternatively, I petition for Wren to become a spellcaster and learn a bunch of spells to mess with people but also repair things found in the dumpster which are burnt.) I'd also vote for having some of the relatives we never saw get aged up and move into the same apartment building with them! lol dealing with a werewolf will help Laird increase her handiness skill on top of the maintenance events.

The door that’s permanently closed. Kind of reminds me of Europe too. I’m American but whenever I’ve visited, I feel like I see though sometimes. Also I know we’re kind of getting ahead of ourselves, but I think it would be really funny if she fell in love with one of her tenants in the let’s play.

I love the idea of using the home chef stuff for early revenue and setting up a night market stall! Maybe not the wood working table since it makes sense that Laird would fail as a landlady and need to develop the skill.

Good news! Laundry does work if its in shared spaces and you will see other sims doing laundry in there, but the laundry won't be taken care of by the other sims xD

I'm so hyped for this. I love the idea of the rooftop garden. Yes, the buffet table should be in the pink flamingo hotel rather than here.

Bought for rent and home chef hustle today and used the james promo hoped it worked as it didn’t say if it did. Love the idea of using home chef hustle. I had that thought just seconds before you said it. Eager for Laird to show up and earn her fortune:)

I like the thought that you try to gather furniture slowly by dumpster diving to prepare for your future landownership.

This reminds me of the hostel I stayed in when I was in Sydney. My friend and I rented a room with bunkbeds and the bathroom was shared.

It definitely looks like a rundown boarding house. That's a great start for Laird. The challenge is called RAGS to Riches after all. everyone has to start somewhere.

you can find laundry in the appliances section if you go by item category instead of room category.

I'm using the chef hustle table to sell food and make money to buy a place and become a landlord but it's really slow. Also, instead of the garage door you could use the murals that you can paint. You can cover one side of the building with it.
