I've been playing powder toy a while now. A few quick tips for the beginners. Use CTRL+SHIFT to use the fill tool, left click will fill any blank or already filled area just like the bucket in paint. Right click will delete everything of the same type in the same way. If you want perfect squares instead circles... hold down control and drag. Also works for deleting. Oh, and you can hold control while scrolling the mouse to change the shape of the circle.

The energy for the engine seems to be coming from the fans, since they’re the driving force of the steam and the heat just keeps it as steam This game definitely isn’t ideal tho as far as moving solids go

heres a tip i learned from a Minecraft mod turn the water into steam before you put it in the turbine so you dont have to go through the hassle of getting a compact design and can have just 2 relatively small boxes and have the job done just like that and yes i know Minecraft isnt realistic but it works so it works and its efficient cause its used in real life steam generators so take that Karen

Facts. So far my favorite thing to do is make a pressure chamber. I make what looks like the shape of a gas tank with titanium, pretty thick. And on the bottom inside i put fan in the same thickness as the titanium. Than at the top i close up the little hole with a circle of titanium to keep it from leaking the hole it cant be super small or else it wont work. Than i fill it completely with gas. I use oxygen gas because its very volatile. And once its filled i check the pressure in the middle of the tank and at the bottom. The pressure at the bottom should reach the max if you did it right. Than remove the cap and watch all the gas go brrrrrrrr.

90% of what i do when i mess around with powder toy is create closed loop steam engines. usually uranium for the heat source, steam escapes through a 'gas only' wall tube goes through some fins to condense back into water and then through ether a 'liqid only wall' section or a portal back into the reactor.
