Hey everyone and welcome back to more Zeepkist! Today we are building Halloween tracks so I decided to make a haunted house track except it didn't start haunted! This track has a regular house that becomes haunted the further you drive which makes it super exciting and difficult!
Check out @darealkosmo and @scrapman for their haunted house tracks!

Frankenstein's track: Make part of a track for 5 minutes, then rotate everyone's track and then continue on the new track until each track is finished. You can't say what you were trying to do with your track, just give it to the next person and hope it turns out well. I'm not too sure if track sharing works in zeepkist though

This game could benefit from a "warp" block, one that teleports the player from A to B. It would let you make a house track like this, but each time you go to a different one which changes and become creepier and creepier. Different doors would be open and would create the illusion of dynamic tracks.

It's made in Unity, and I know portals are doable in Unity using camera tricks and duplicate models (I've seen tutorials), but making them work as a track piece in a level editor? *Not* being static objects in predefined, static levels in a game that by default *wouldn't* have a level editor? Going to be tough. Not impossible, though, because Splitgate has a level editor. It would probably be easiest to have the portals be solid/closed in the editor (rick+morty style, can't see through), and be live/open in the races (so you can see through). Probably make them similar in shape to the checkpoint gates, a round hoop (toggle-able), a road+barriers (toggle-able), and the portal itself (not toggle-able). Maybe a square variant as well. Placing them will place two pieces at once (Mario-Maker Doors style), and you have to move the second piece away. Then the question would be, are both the back and front of the portal active, or is it a wall on one side? For simplicity, and so that duplicated ghost models don't accidentally clip through the wrong side of a portal, I'd say make them one-sided. You can easily duplicate it and rotate it 180 if you want a portal on each side - although, that brings up the question of, if they're placed in pairs, how does duplication work? I say, if one is selected and duplicated, the other is duplicated as well, but appears next to the selected duplicate regardless of where the unselected other half was and added to the current selection (so, you'll have to move the second half again, I guess); but if both halves are selected when you duplicate it, no extra stuff needs to be created or added to the selection. Um... oh, yeah, and I guess the scale of the blocks, they should be forced to match. Since they're placed as a pair, the file could treat them as one block, but with a second set of coordinates and rotation data, thus only one set of scale data. Not that most people scale parts, just advanced users. I know I would appreciate a potal block. Especially a square varient for my current WIP track, based on the Backrooms theme inspired by a comment on one of these videos. I'm in a bit of a creative rut with the second half.

Scrapman's was estheticaly simple, but technically complex. Only 2 finishers. Kan's was amazing, and the execution of time travel was perfect. I just think the transitions weren't very smooth and it took too long. Kosmo get the gold this week. Esthetily pleasing build that flowed well and required some skill, but was also forgiving.

In terms of a time travel track it would be really awesome to see an Ocarina of Time or Majora's mask themed track. And on the evolution track you guys talked about, it would be cool for everyone to make a track one week and then to swap the tracks between eachother for the next week so you have to add on to what someone else already built.

You could make the evolution theme work by recording over several days. For example, on Monday you each build a Winter themed track that you race Monday evening. Then on Tuesday (or in the week after) you each expand that Winter themed track, and race it Tue evening, ... And simultaneously, you could start building and racing a spring themed track on Tuesday (or until whenever you record next). It would mean that you are working on a track over the course of several days or weeks though.

You could do a work in progress theme where you build one version of a track, race it then give it to someone else and they build off of your track until everyone has built a section of the track. So you can see everyone's build style in one track.

Something to make this idea a little easier might be some sort of teleporter/portal piece. Imagine instead of that time travel tunnel, you instead had what looked like a checkpoint, but instead of being a checkpoint, it teleported you to the haunted house instead?

Evolution would work as a weekly series I think. Everyone builds a track, play it that week, and then everyone swaps tracks and they get played un the next episode a week later. Idk what the time crunch you guys are on is like, which is why I suggest weekly, but im sure people would love if you could do it faster. Like an evolution week, where you guys make a track for Monday then swap to make the evolutions for Tuesday, then change, so on and so forth until the end of the week, and do that 1 week out of each month.

Suggestion for the evolution idea: You each build a short track at first with a limited number of parts that you've already agreed on. Once complete, you trade tracks and build upon the track you received using the same parts limit. Once you've all gone through all the tracks, it would end up very different, because you're building on each others tracks. Basically, Kan starts a track, Kosmo builds the 2nd part of the same track, Scrapman builds the 3rd part of the same track, and Dapper puts on the finishing touches. All 4 tracks start at different points and go through each other in a different order, resulting in 4 different tracks that you all worked on.

instead of doing an evolution, perhaps you could each build 1/4 of a track based on a theme, then run them together as a single track. That way each video would have everyone's perspective of the whole track... make it like 45 seconds per part and have a 25 minute limit? I'd enjoy that even if nobody else would :)
@35manning

This may need Fiets help, but each of you build a section of track starting and finishing with a straight flat track piece of say 30 seconds length or less. Each of you validate your individual sections. Fiets then combines those sections into a single track in a random order, "validates" it with dev hacks if he chooses and you all play the track for the first time together in the lobby.

You could rotate one clock face after another to indicate if the travel is forward or backward in time (in addition to the fan effect).
