Nice map! For timewarping, finishing towards the side is not the reason you get a faster time. You want to hit near the side, and have your car's velocity pointing away from the center of the finish. When you do this, the finish plane is drawn behind you through the center of the finish block perpendicular to your velocity vector, and the time correction calculated is negative which decreases your time.
