That arena having no roof is very worrying if they are allowing spinners. Even if they are at the 1lb weight class
@DrumBotics2 күн бұрын
Yeah right, I said that myself there, but I won't go home after a 300 kilometer drive😀 It was a very little competition and they probably didn't even think that there will be some powerfull spinners.

@DrumBotics In which case I hope they saw what your robots are capable of and make a roof! Or just send them the IIT Techfest 2014 video of a guy getting brained by shrapnel and hopefully they'll realise why you need a roof.

I think the PP was printed a little cold it looks like the adhesion isn't great and PP should have some of the best layer adhesion of any material. It's also the lowest density though so remember the same part in nylon might be stronger but, it also will weigh like 20% more I think.
@DrumBoticsКүн бұрын
I agree, it was printed at 260 celsius and Now that I tried printing at 300 it looks the same as I thought the temperature would decrease the quality of the part.
@thirtythreeeyes8624Күн бұрын
@@DrumBotics With good settings PP has TPU like layer adhesion and elongation at break is higher than any other non flexible material but, nylon has a lower coefficient of drag, higher tensile strength and stiffness, which might be better. I'd be interested how a higher temp PP part would perform.

@@DrumBotics Ya, but the time it takes is so detrimental. You're very vulnerable, plus can't capitalize and go offense when you're trying to self right like that. Would be so much better if you could just seamlessly go right back to fighting. I bet you'd have won the rematch with that difference.

Does the motor fit in the drum with only friction or is there glue/material involved too?
@DrumBotics2 күн бұрын
This time, because the drum is printed out of soft material it is pressfitted, but in the future I will use something like nylon which is harder yet still tougher and will put some glue there in as I press fit.

@@DrumBotics so if it was made of metal, would it be pressfitted or glued or would you use a collet?

Not having a roof is super concerning. That could have easily led to a severe injury if a part failed and hit someone or even worse a robot could get launched OOTA. If you have contact with that event organizer please tell them to invest in a roof.
