I think deleting the interiors of the houses would be completely fine. Its the ambience of them being there is what makes it awesome. Nobody is sweating the interior man

Thanks for another episode Broadbent! I was thinking, this series could be so long and great with the new biome coming out. A whole new area to build and test new things! I know you're dealing with a lot of lag but it would be sad for many to see this series end! Keep up the great work and as always see you next time! :)

Love ur vids and builds, including the village, looks dope my man! If I remember correctly, it was Grimmcore who said in a podcast a while ago that instances aren't rly that bad for FPS, but it's rather the light sources that can cause a ton of lag. I think maybe if u removed some of the wall torches on the houses and threw down a few standing torches instead along the pathways ur FPS might improve... Also I thought u could leave the interior at least in one house of each type as kind of like a showcase thing :P Keep it up and take care! Peace

Dude, I love your modded series. Always looking forward to new episodes. I hope the FPS problem doesn't mean the end of it. Maybe you could deconstruct a couple of houses to give a they are just being built feel. I think it would look cool based on how the frames looked on their. Keep up the awesome work 💪

If you're interested in making your settlement feel more alive, there is a mod that adds npcs. Additionally there is a mod where you can spawn in Haldor. Not sure how it works, but it might look good in your marketplace.

Maybe for the lag problem you could try and simplify a bit your builds by deleting some more superficial details, as a start (ex. the giant amount of torches you have around). I don't know how much this could improve your situation but hey, doesn't hurt to try
@JoshuaKA022 жыл бұрын
I'd second the lesser torches idea. It's a shame, but that's Valheim for you atm
@freshprince9252 жыл бұрын
There are also a bunch of item frames in the market and town. Item frames cause lag in Valhiem too unfortunately..

Valheim+ let's you auto fill torches/fires. Maybe hide some chests around and fill them with resin?
@Thrillbo3412 жыл бұрын
You have angered the Fog Gods, you must bathe your creations in the divine obscuring. Once drenched in the biome specific miasma the mist deities may look kindly upon you and grant you additional frames.

My number one fear in this game is to see my fps go down once I start making a place for myself. At first I'd make a small place with everything in it, but it would tank fps just as much as a larger one with everything spread out. I'm in the process of planning a rather large island Castle build, but I dread figuring out ways to maximize fps in the process. It'd be awesome if we could take a blueprint or building we create and turn it into a single object. Like turning all the separate pieces of the walls, floors, etc into only one object the game has to worry about. I don't know if this would help any, and you'd have to still add all the interactive and deco items after, but surely it would be somewhat beneficial. One issue might be the number of worktables you have in such a small area. I don't know how the game deals with them, but I'm sure they end up taxing a computer pretty high. Another would be the number of light sources. Best of luck, tho. It's a wonderful thing when you get to make a place for yourself like this, even in a game.
@JoshuaKA022 жыл бұрын
Also, I noticed that the round tables seem to have a lot of item stands. Stuff that that adds up quick, and optimization still isn't perfect yet.
@JoshuaKA022 жыл бұрын
Oh, and one solution I might have to take--one I don't really like--is to have things spread far apart and join them with portals. With Plan Build one could split up what they've already built, but having them together is just so much more preferable.

The frame issue was the reason I stopped playing valheim. With such a lack of content at the time all I could do was build until it was unplayable. And of course I don’t want to spend hundreds of hours into a map just to abandon it and start over

@JoshuaKA022 жыл бұрын
Every time I've dropped the game, it was because of fps around my builds. I wish I was able to sacrifice one complete build to focus on many smaller pieces, but I gotta have it all together, lol.

I hate to say it, but the lag may be coming from the crystal windows. I added just a few in one of my buildings and the FPS tanks when it has to render them. Another source of the lag is most likely one of the mods (the more mods one adds, the more potential there is for conflicts/glitches).
@7531PETER2 жыл бұрын
P.S. you seem to have a lot of work benches...consider removing some to see if that helps. Maybe the game internally does a lot of calculations for every workbench you have near you.
@7531PETER2 жыл бұрын
P.P.S. the workbenches have to calculate the supplies in the containers near any adjacent workbench, this along with your suprlus of supplies could be making a lot of calculations that the game needs to wait for. Just a thought.

If you leave one house intact and then kill the inside of all the others just as like this is my vision. I think that and some torches and maybe a deep dive in the mod list. Could the pig and wolf farms be shut off for awhile?

Satisfying builds! FPS thought: As a test try removing the fire pits first, then the torches. The way Valheim was rendering dynamic lights + shadows back in 2021 (via the built-in Unity renderer) is not really suitable for hundreds of light sources in an area, and I'm not sure if this has changed.

Nice work! I really hope you can figure out the performance issues - it would be such a shame if you had to hold back your creativity! In all honesty, I think Valheim is pretty poorly optimized as is, but that's to be expected from an indie game. There's always the classics as well: Limit number of dynamic light sources, limit the amount of foliage. But that should not be the determining factor here. You could probably try to mail the devs about this..

I've been testing stuff tonight and have almost doubled the FPS!
@JeanMarvin20002 жыл бұрын
@@oab please upload a video of what you discovered. Lately I'm getting also very bad fps, I think it could be the the insane amount of chests, that's why I will also try the item drawers mod.
