If you wanna try again, there are 'UFS' rollerblade boots for aggressive rollerblades that are one-piece and the wheel and frame come off, leaving only the boots. and most of them have superb ankle support and padded inner boots and insoles. They're more expensive, but safer.

Snowboard boots would really improve this whole thing. Proper fit in the bindings and ankle support would be way better.

Ski boots would work better. They're optimized for individual long awkward feet attachments.
@oolong2

Snowboard bindings are meant to work with snowboarding boots for ankle support. Regular boots wont cut it and you could very easily break an ankle with that setup. An old pair of skis and ski boots would probably work much better. Ski boots are much stiffer with much more ankle support and the skis, after you cut them down, would be pretty easy to bolt onto things. You could even use the flex of the skis to create some shock absorption.

You have to wear snowboarding boots for the bindings to work properly.... Because boots actually lock your ankle from moving around too much. The only reason you don't have control is because your ankle is bending around with out any support.

I know you probably won't revisit this but, if you mount the boots below the center of the wheels, it should make it easier to balance and provide additional support to the legs. I say, take your original design and make the wheelbase shorter then mount your feed almost to the very bottom. Or, take just one wheel from the first design and make it that way. Either way, good content. Keep it up! Edit: also, use snowboard boots. They provide ankle support all the way up the calves and would give you 100% more control. I bet your friend would say it's 10/10 after that 😉

Nope, you cant. there is a reason skates look like skates and not bikes. size of wheels and body as well as the weight make it too hard to skate with. 4 wheels on each will only make that harder. something like this would need motors. without motors would need to be a radically different design to ease the size and weight issues. its a good idea for a yt video but a terrible idea in practice. youre better off trying to design skates with larger wheels, which has probably been done plenty.

Kinda late here but the reason the first design didn’t work was the side mounted boots. It through off the center of gravity forcing the bikes to be angled towards you. You should cut off the top part of the frame and mount the boots on the center of the second support bar.
@Picike85
@Picike85 Жыл бұрын
Just use snowboard boots in those bindings... Also using hard rollerskate boots would work 1000 times better. Ski boots could also work... Basically, anything that gives you proper ankle support and better control.

When you changed the tire you should have gone tubeless on both bikes. You can loose a pound by doing that per-bike! Also what you call a steerer column is incorrect. It’s called a steerer tube.

try using a drywall stilt style rather than a short binding for the first pair of bikes on top like you originally planned. i feel like the extra leg support will help since you're up so high. make a high chair or sit on a table to strap up. i can can into stilts without any support, wheels might make it tricky; maybe add brakes with a lock?

If you make your own skate things, then you NEED ankle support or you could twist your ankle Edit: it also makes it wayyyy harder to skate with them when you step and flex your ankle and almost fall with your feet facing inward. That’ll break your ankles

One thing is when you change a tube you don’t have to change the tire as well just run your hand around the inside if the tire to make sure the thorn or whatever poped your tube is out of the tire before you put the new tube in.
@TheWrigle
@TheWrigle 2 жыл бұрын
This one true for small punctures, but you could see in the video that the tire casing had been torn. If the hole is large enough, a tube alone won't work. In a pinch you can stick something behind the tear to keep the tube from bulging out, but that's really just meant to get home, after which time a new tire would be suggested.

Nice try - enjoyed the video. What about going back to the original idea you had with the larger bikes - remove the bicycle frames and then take a couple of metal tubes about the same diameter as used in the bicycle frames. Cut the tubes to length, flatten each end of the tubes, drill holes to attach the wheels, and then make a plate for your foot? Just an idea.
