Regarding the description, I 100% agree with the complete lack of small local jump/ downhill trails in the Nh/ southern nh area. Someone needs to step it up

Awesome work! You're kids are lucky to have a dad like you, building trails right in your own back yard to grow and progress with! I live by Kingdom Trails and I love the flow trails here, They definitely cater to beginners/XC riders and i wish they would add more tech features to get advanced riders something fun to look forward to as well!

The newest trail in Wasserman reminds me a lot of your backyard trail. Smaller berms, but more features. It would be nice to see more of that

Thanks for fighting the fight bro. New Hampshire needs more flow. The kids need progressive flow trails that are easily accessible to them.

That's really cool. We've got 1.25 acres, but it's basically flat, so my kids keep asking for truckloads of dirt! I agree that southern NH is lacking in flow trails. The Dublin Nordic Centre is slowly establishing a machine built trail, but I don't think they are using a professional trial builder to do it. Green Woodlands is pretty much all machine built, but still a good haul from southern NH. It is very frustrating, we had a week in Stowe and I rode with my wife at Cady Hill every day whilst our boys were doing a camp with SMBA, but then we get home and there's nowhere really for her to ride within an hour of Peterborough where we live, that isn't rocks and roots galore!

The grass is always greener, heh. Down here in the south east (Chattanooga TN) we've gone from one unprofessional flow trail in town to like, half a dozen high-class professional trails in multiple systems - but only one or two are well maintained at any given time, at best. When I visited NH a while back I loved seeing the more raw natural trails - all of the flow trails start to blend together. Admittedly after cracking the clavicle for a second time at snowshoe I'm far less interested in "jumpy jump" trails, but anyway - be careful what you wish for. Absolutely have a place in trail building everywhere but need to prioritize long-term maintenance plans, and makes me sad to see other types of (progressive) trails when they take over a whole region's new-trail building. That all said - it comes back to wanting rad progressive trails, and no matter the format that's a good goal for local groups to get behind
@Projectnortheast6 ай бұрын
I do agree to some extent. If every trail was a flow trail I would hate it. Variety is the spice of life and many of my favorite trails are not machine built flow. However... progressive doesn't just mean machine built flow, it's flow in general, even directional possibly with features, anything really than the herky jerky up down and around singetrack we have literally littered in 100 different trail systems all over Southern NH. But, we need atleast a few machine built progressive jump trails peppered into SNH. But mainly we need to change the way we think of trail building and stop relying solely on volunteers many of whom only ride one discipline... XC. That's my overall point and what I've been trying to change here in NH. Of all people though if you know me and are a fan of the channel you'd know I've been pushing the envelope of what's even rideable here in NH and in our mountains. 😉

Flow is not my favorite, but it's ok sometimes. They've been building a lot of trails in Colorado Springs, and thankfully not all of it is flow. If you're going to allow horses on your trails, flow trails aren't going to be very flowy for long. It seems like equestrians only hit the trails when it's muddy and just destroy the flow by making everything bumpy. Most cyclists know to stay off the mud, but some still go, and sometimes you just get caught out in the rain and don't have a choice. Hikers and horses do the most trail damage, especially in the mud. I enjoy the flow sometimes, but give me techy singletrack over wide smooth flow most days.
@Projectnortheast5 ай бұрын
@matthewhall8790 I mean all we have here is techy rooty rocky cross country singletrack that is poorly laid out so... hard to get the next Gen into the sport when it's 100s of miles of masochist style trail... I learned early on when teaching my kids to ride there really wasn't much fun for them to ride without driving hours. So... lot different than Colorado or Utah etc
