Hi Lisa! Fun fact- the reason you feel that “vibrating” sensation when you eat spicy foods is because it triggers the same pain receptors in your skin that react to heat, called polymodal nociceptors. These are pain fibers that exist all over the body. The spicy food excites those receptors and we feel the sensation of ‘tingling’ or ‘vibration’. 🙂

As a child I was afraid of eating those spicy noodles coz my spice tolerance was severely low. I admired the kids my age who willingly asked to have spicy noodles and foods for snack time though. Now I love spicy foods and I often look for spicy noodles in grocery stores. Younger me would be proud, though she'd be disappointed at the same time coz I only started eating spicy stuff before I finished college, which wasn't that long ago.

lol this sounds like me. my spice tolerance is wayyyyy too low (i have no idea why). i can’t eat those flamas doritos, or takis, or even when i eat buldak ramen and put the tiniest amount of the sauce, i CANNOT take it, it hurts waayyyy too much. idk what happened, two years ago i was fine with spice tolerance but it really sucks now 🥲🥲

With so many people trying the spicy challenges I was trying to do as much research as I could about what works best for spicy food to calm the spice & this is what I found. Basically once you reach into these higher scoville ranges you're pretty stuck with the spice for about 20 min. The bread will help absorb any surface chili oils out of the mouth & everything remaining is only fat soluble so whole milk & ice cream will help break it up. The reason for the 20 minutes is because hot peppers cause a chemical reaction in the brain & the higher scoville brings a longer reaction because your brain thinks something is burning you which is why you make a ton of saliva, snot & tears to try & flush it out & it takes about 20 min for your brain to decide you're safe.

My friends test my tolerance as a party joke all the time, tried the one chip challenge with someone though(mind you I’ve eaten ghost peppers before- even got gifted ghost pepper powder to sprinkle on food 😂) I. it’s okay lisa, i know exactly how you feel. the first time i ever had wasabi i didn’t know what it was and put the whole dollop in my mouth. i prayed for my life & i’m not even religious. my spice tolerance is mid-high range but i couldn’t handle that 😂

“It’s hot, but not hot hot” would literally be perfect on a coffee mug since that’s what you drank milk out of sometimes.

I used to not be able to eat spicy at all, but then I got a thai boyfriend and i ate at his house quite a lot. His mom always cooked authentic thai food which was 9/10 time super spicy. Since then ive been able to eat pretty much any spicy food as long as its not too ridiculous xD Im glad I learned to eat it cus spicy food is sooooooo good

I may be very late to this, but I do hope everyone who does these kind of challenges take care of their health as well. Eating hot food frequently can cause horrible stomach ulcers that can be extremely painful. I hope you're all taking care 🙏

If you do try the spice noodle challenge again, maybe try putting more water for the broth so that it can disperse the spice more and not hurt as much. I eat alot of spicy things and I found that when making noodles, it helps to keep the water in

I’m truly amazed and proud of you. What a journey. After watching you accomplish your goal, I somehow gained this false sense that I too, could do the same. Who am I kidding, I draw the line after 2X ramen. As you get older, your body quits on you and refuses to indulge such frivolous behaviors.
