I definitely agree with making the guest bedroom the smaller room! We learned in our most recent house to use the best rooms for our needs (offices, game rooms, etc). We don’t have guests all that much and in our previous house those rooms were barely used.
@LoLPlayback3 жыл бұрын
Yes, people always think they are gonna have guests over more than they do. Lol. And usually guests don’t end up spending the night very often, maybe a few times a year, so it doesn’t make sense to use a larger room for it. We actually are planning to get a Murphy bed frame for our guest room so that we can still use the room for other things the majority of the time.
@emmaarnold44933 жыл бұрын
Yeah we had a full guest bed is our spare room because we had interstate family but they hardly visit and we ended up changing it to a pull out couch so we could use the space

Yes! Definitely make the smaller room a guest room. Makes no sense to waste a bigger room that you would use every day.
@27Emaustin2 жыл бұрын
Yep, fully agree with this advice. You usually only have guests for a total of 1-2 weeks per year (total). It doesn't make sense to use all of that good space for guests who use your house less than you do.

I'd turn the spare room off the living room into a separate TV room! That way in the living room you can lay stuff out a bit differently, have a bookshelf, Bowser's bed can be in the middle, maybe more seating for when you entertain!
@regnagatha50283 жыл бұрын
Yes! That was my thought as well. If that smaller room is big enough for a couch and tv, then the larger room could be more for socialising.

@jensencaldwell51012 жыл бұрын
yeah, that space is super ideal for a playroom. and maybe it's just me, but i think that a kinda equivalent thing would make sense for deli & james specifically: a bowser room! ik dogs have a Lot of Stuff that takes up storage and floor space, etc. (like food, toys, leashes, various grooming stuff....) -- that room seems abt the right size to fit a cabinet/chest to store the various dog things, and his big bed, with a little extra room besides. plus it connects to the kitchen - so just beside the kitchen door could be a great place to put his food bowls and avoid the issue of the (small-ish) kitchen/dining area getting crowded. plus he could kinda have his own space. idk if dogs value that quite as much as cats, but.... it seems a nice option to me 😅

What’s an annex?
@jadecoyle9902 жыл бұрын
@@ryleeboizard9356 It's a fancy word for another living space on the same bit of land. Usually hotels/hostels/B&Bs have 'annexes' which are usually the less fancy, cheaper accommodation. We just called it the annex because it was quicker than saying 'the converted garage' XD But it was like a really tiny flat - our own living space, separate from my in-laws, with kitchen, living room, 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom kind of thing.

I mean, the bonus room can evolve with your needs. It can start as a workout space and if you decide to start a family, you can make it the controlled kid space by putting up a baby gate and keeping toys and kid things in there. Plus, the little room is an ideal Nursery size. And if you are hosting guests, you can put a Murphy bed in one of your offices (whoever gets the bigger one) and share a workspace while guests are staying with you. Anyways, it is a lovely home and I am very excited for you both.

Hello 👋 how are you doing today-
@LivinInSim3 жыл бұрын
Just jumping in here in the beginning to say, that's always the problem I have in TS4 when trying to build real houses. They are always too long. They are not necessarily too wide that I can tell. I wonder why that is? If the scale is off, shouldn't that be a symmetrical thing? Theories from the peanut gallery are welcome. Regarding the scale, I do think it would help if we had half tile segments, but that doesn't address the symmetrical issue. Not much to do in the way of remedies in this iteration, but an interesting convo to me nonetheless.
@pastelpinkhoney2 жыл бұрын
I tried building my house but I 100% needed half tiles or something. It came out weird and long, and huge too. All the doors didn’t quite fit right either. Which is weird because our place is pretty much a simple rectangle on the outside.
@LivinInSim2 жыл бұрын
@@pastelpinkhoney Yeah, it's true even with simple shaped buildings. Maybe a half tile would fix it more than I think. When I copy a floor plan, I make it smaller, since it isn't real, but then you end up with 1 tile wide sections, or sections that you can't fit furniture in.
@zaraglowious3 жыл бұрын
The little extra living room/old dining room could be a good space to make into a movie room perhaps - depending on the dimensions - and your couch could fit nicely in the corner, and then the bigger living space could be nice to just make into a chill out space for hanging out with friends and family. And if you want a workout space, you could use the space bedroom for that and put in a Murphy bed or something like it for when people spend the night, that way the room will also be for more use and not just for once every 6 months (or what it was 😋) and the closet could potentially be an easy place to move equipment into when people stay over 😊

First: The ceiling mounted greenscreens are absolutely worth it, 10/10 recommend. Offices feel so much cleaner when that clunky thing is out of the way and doesn't need to be dragged around. Second: As someone who's been married for over 15 years, take the larger office, especially since this house is half yours and you'll be in it all day with the work/life balance. Overnight guests are not frequent enough to warrant losing a space you'd be spending a large part of your time in. Take that bigger office! As for floorplan: I'd drop the wall between that weird nook and the kitchen and make it one large open dining space with an island. I'd close up the archway but leave it's shape to turn it into a nice 'feature' bookcase in the living room area. Cozy cubbies for plants, books, knickknacks, etc. Get a sectional with a chaise instead of a wrap around and then pull it towards bowsers window, mount the TV on a swing/movable arm so you can turn it towards the new couch location and avoid the glare, push it back to the wall when not in use. And is it just me or does 1 bathroom for a 4 bedroom home seem a little strange? Is that common in AUS?

That could work very well and give them space for the dishwasher, espresso machine and extra storage and counters to have a usable pantry back there.

I feel this is James's passive aggressive way of letting deli know which room he wants for office haha 😂

If it were me that little room near the kitchen would be like a cozy little reading nook. A couple bookcases, some cozy chairs, some blankets, etc. Maybe some fairy lights or multicolored lights.

Would love to see the dream renovation! I think that spare room would be good for any hobbies you have. So yes to home gym, or a game room, or a library, or a music room, etc. depending on how you like to spend your free time.

Everyone who's ever tried to build their own place in The SIms 4: We need to be able to build on the half tile!

The blank room between kitchen and living you could make into guest entertainment area so you could serve cuppers and snacks. Or you could open the wall to the kitchen and expand if you plan to stay long term, also would add more value to property

I think they should upload the shell to the gallery and have the community redesign the existing house with their furniture. Then in a few months have the community renovate the house to make it a dream home…see what the Sims community will come up with😉

small room is def best for the guest bedroom for 1 main reason: its furthest from the master bedroom so both yall and the guests can have some privacy, instead of being separated by just one (potentially relatively thin) wall

I so much want to furnish it in the sims by myself and James is going to react to all our suggestions for the living room/ house furniture. Did they upload it to the gallery? :)

This looks fantastic, I do want to see James version of the dream reno!!!! Deli's was amazing. Congrats on the new house soon! Suggestions for the nook on living room: could be a reading/collectable lounge nook. for quiet days with a book and tea to relax, brainstorm ideas etc. If you craft at all it could go there. You could have "transformation" furniture and use it for extra room for food with big groups to serve if needed or extra seating for those times as well. crafting, lounging etc. Change it as you have needs to utilize the space. if you have plants could make it a little like a 4 seasons room with that window to grow your own little plants, herbs for cooking, etc.

It's really interesting watching you try to place your existing furniture in the house. When I was in Canada before moving to the UK to get married, my partner sent me photos of various places so we could choose our flat together. My partner then built the flat as much to scale as possible in the game Second Life (which is where we met from across the world and fell in love. I moved to the UK less than 2 years later and we've been married for nearly 12 years.) It feels much easier to build to scale in Second Life, by the way. The place was really oddly shaped with random angles. The kitchen was minuscule and with the under-counter fridge, washing machine and stove, there was only one lower cupboard and two upper cupboards, no other kitchen storage. There was the equivalent of one tile of counter surface available for food prep. The living room was long and narrow with the end at the kitchen more narrow because of a diagonal wall. At that end we had a fold-down table and folding chairs, our freezer, the microwave and a large pantry cupboard. Yes, in the living space. There was nowhere else! The other end of that room was difficult but we figured out how to arrange the couch, entertainment unit, etc, which my partner would not have thought of if we hadn't been trying various options in-game. We didn't have the option to buy new things because the Visa and immigration process used up the little money we had, so we had to make it function with what my partner already owned and some secondhand things that were given to us. It meant that on moving day my partner was able to just put the furniture in without having to shuffle things around to find something that worked. It also felt really special to me, like I had a real part in making our place a home before I ever arrived there. ❤ I hope you find it as helpful as we did!

That empty room near the kitchen would be so good for VR play zone. I struggle with space in my really small apartment, so I can think only about it)
