With better battery you get way more power from those motors. Try lipo mate.

but if I use rechargeable batteries, they have a lower milliampere hour rating than standard batteries, so they naturally last shorter. but I have thought about that option

@@Brickliest for this car, small lipo 2s ( let say 1300 mAh) will last for about 20 min. And you will get at list double power.

maybe I will buy rechargeable aaa batteries, because one rechargeable aaa battery is about 1000 mAh and I can put 6 of them in the battery box. I can get enough power and battery life for that too

@@Brickliest they have good capacity, but realy low current and discharge rate. Also, most times, the rechargeable have 1.2v and not 1.5 like the one-use battery. Im realy suggest you to try lipo 2s if anyway you work with the ir receivers, and you need just a strong and very cheap battery. ( I do the same with my mocs).

@@Brickliest lest say it this way : With lipo 2s you wont be able to connect the ir on the same connection, to the battery, like you did here. It must be splited, or the plastic around the connector will melt from the high current.
