For me, Haaland is not overrated currently, I'd say he's overhated. He used to be, but after the Madrid game, he got so much hate, that even when he scored 4 goals, people wouldn't appreciate it, and called him a small game player. In the case of Haaland I believe the idea that he is a poacher and not much else as a reason why he is not good enough to be in the “best player of…” conversation is simply untrue. If his contributions in front of net are the most crucial in a campaign and/or if he ends up scoring at his rate (he is not even in his prime) he deserves that sort of recognition. And Beckham popularity is actually one reason his performances are overshadowed. He was great with set pieces, intelligent, a brilliant playmaker, great long shooter, and fantastic on the ball, and showed up in big moments which contributed to him being considered one of the best of his time (ex. the 1999 Ballon d’or where he finished second only to Rivaldo).
