My theory is there are two female Chompettes ( cabbage and raspberry) who line up with Karin and Mariah, and two male Chompettes (bread and onion) who linr up with Gregor and Anatoly, and then potato was never really specified just like the main character. so i think the talking food is literally the other people, and the distortion of their faces are the player realizing that they have the same faces as the food. i also think that the food is the original iteration of the group in the house, including who you are playing as, and you see them as literal food to distance yourself from the fact that you ate them. thought this primarily through dialogue of the chompets.

When they've mentioned Ukraine it got me thinking... Back in Soviet times there was a big famine that decimanted the Ukrainian population of Holodomor. It was done by USSR because the Ukraininans didn't want collectivisation of agriculture and over the top norms for production of wheat, vegetables etc. that would go to the cities for free. The worst part is that, do this day, USSR claims it was just the product of poor management and not the crime against humanity. And some western Communists see it that way too. Anyways, this famine is ingrained in Ukrainian society and the fear of starvation is still prevailant in older generations to the point that they know which plants are edible and have a habit of storing some emergency food just in case there will be another famine. So maybe the game is also adressing Holodomor to some extend, or just play off those fears.

yeah, that's what i was assuming. the fact that they came to the cabin with little rations left, and the reason they (not counting mariah) succumbed to "the hunger" could be because they were already starving before they entered our cabin. i have so many theories and thoughts about this game that i could rant and rave about for hours, but the setting of the game itself adds on to the horror x100. even if they made it out of the cabin alive, or there was no cabin to begin with, who's to say how long they would have survived? they were already at death's door when they got to the tatra mountains. since the cabin is in/next to zakopane, it means they were so close to slovakia. ): my family is moldovan - not a slavic country, but moldova was eaten up by the USSR shortly before my ancestors fled to america - famines, pogroms, and everything that happened to poor families cramped in shtetls were the primary reasons, but the inability to practice their religion because of the USSR outright banning the practice of judaism would have killed them had they stayed, metaphorically at _best._ (also, despite the USSR not banning christianity, they apparently banned christmas? my christian brethren under the iron curtain deserved better, too 😤). but even my family today has that ingrained need to make sure we have emergency rations. we still live in tiny communities even though today we have the freedom to leave. it's a cycle you can't seem to get out of, but those who lost their lives to the holodomor... never got out. they never lived long enough to get out. maybe they could have been the people who'd break that cycle. it's very painful thinking about it. ukraine has been good to moldova, maybe that's why.

My interpretation on this was that we (the main character) were living in the cabin from the start and as time went on, we started to get hungry and hallucinate and see the chompettes. The chompettes may have been the main characters inner voice telling him not to hurt the any of the other characters. They just so happened to stubble on your cabin and from your insanity, you became unstable and decided that people would get lost and end up traveling to your cabin, youd eat them due to lack of food in the area as well as the weather conditions that anatoly stated. Basically, you as the main character thought up the idea to bait travelers into coming into your cabin and storing them up to eat for a while due to weather conditions and low amounts of food. Hope this makes sense also I love your videos!!

Quick random theory. You know how in the first dream we had something attached to our back and we went to a river to try and drown it but we ended up drowning while the thing survived? What I think and in fact am definitely sure of is that the creature was a lijo. (Pronounced Lee - ho) It's a servant of death which has many depictions of it's look, sometimes it being an old woman, and other times being a male goblin like creature. They all have one thing in common though, it has one eye. It can attach to people's necks and stay there. In an attempt to get it off of their necks people will run to rivers to try and drown it, unfortunately it often results in the people drowning allowing the lijo to swim away.

There was a point where I was expecting the game to end with the MC and Karin getting together and becoming a "cannibal couple" of sorts, which would be easy sequel bait where you play as another group trying to stop them... Then the potato said something that led me to think the Cooking Companions were gonna be the villains, and this situation of people being stuck in a cabin and tempted to kill each other for food was a sort of sick game for them... Then i thought the two were gonna both die in the basement and we may see the next group discovering their bodies... Somehow, this game made all those theories sound pleasant compared to this end 😲 I'm guessing the implication is that the MC is in purgatory or at least being forced to relive this situation over and over for some reason.

About the cannibalism when you need food. There was an incident, a real ome where a plane crashed into snowy mountains, people were stuck there, barely any food. After a while they started to eat people who died from starvation or froze to death, they lived like this for few months if I'm not mistaken. Group of people were saved when they met a person, a farmer and asked him to report about them. I think they were charged for cannibalism. Even tho they didn't kill anyone?
