I've been running the bot detector plugin for over a month now and it's crazy to see the automatic detection it picks up and then getting to know my reports actually help when I manually report bots. 89 possible bans, 9 confirmed bans with 100% flag accuracy but my total is 9500 total uploads, 934 possible bans and 211 confirmed. nutty.

Turn back the clocks 15 years when the eco was thriving . Dragon bones were 3k each but it was also not as fast/easy to get a ton of coins or buy bulk anything other than feathers or food.(if you found the right people)

My friends' gims were trying to get ma2 done and we ended up needing to all show up and cover the poor sods because max squads were camping the spawn points and it took like us like 3 hours just to find a quiet spot. Then we ended up needing to still get like 8kc done because people were camping the mage arena bank, ended up needing to cheese him to the lever by bonding an alt to rag him with bronze bolts so he wouldn't get killed.

@@TheMegatuz you're undermining your entire argument. Yes, this is the point of getting rid of bots. It will actually be worth doing skilling due to the value of the resources generated. If you think that it's that difficult to maintain a good supply of each resource, I advise you to play an ironman for a short while. Bulk resources are easy to obtain nowadays but require some time investment so it is worth doing for low lvl players who are aspiring to do high end content later. Those at the top still get their resources but they will pay more for them because they have the currency to spare. That's called a functioning economy.

The bot detector is insanely flawed though, on a test account I tested auto clicker magic training and it showed a 50/50 for unknown and magic bot which makes sense but on my main where I might spend hours doing 1 stat at a time between melee, woodcutting, and slayer recently it shows a 100% real player acc as 91% unknown bot. I am guessing their detection is convinced of bot activity as long as the account is willing to mindlessly grind 1 thing for 4+ hours

I would be fascinated by the economics behind botting is OSRS. Such as how often do they expect to be caught, what is their marginal cost of GP and at what gold price does it no longer become profitable to bot. Because as you mentioned most of the big bot farms are owned by a single person it really indicates to me that unless you have the scale it isn't profitable in the long term especially since the price of OSRS GP is now so low.

I bought GP years back. when I first started back on OSRS. No way was I gonna be seen in scrub gear, plus the early gp grind is no fun. I looked at the price of bonds first, for the same amount of IRL GP i could get double the GP from a site. That was my reason or incentive. Proud to say I'm an ironman now, so the massive inflation due to duping and bots has little effect. I love this series, but at the same time it fucks me off... One mule is bringing in 1B a day, but Jagex: Let's add tax and item sinks, don't worry that accounts can bot to 20+M hunter xp without a ban, lets fuck with the real players. Iron life, join us.

I bought GP through a site and never had any consequences, yet. Many many years ago. Lost my old main because it stopped existing. When I logged in, it was a fresh account and had to start all over again. I remembered when I was a child, the effort that went into my old main, and I simply didn't want to go through that tedious early process again. I decided to sponsor myself. Afterwards I felt the risk is unnecessary, as I could lose it all. Not the money, but the time and effort that went into the account. From then on I decided to just buy bonds. If I have to fill one's pockets, I rather choose the lesser evil. Spend more €/gp, yet run no risk of getting a ban or support an illegitimate business, just to lose it all in the end. I spend 4x more on bonds by now, but I have a clean concious and can enjoy the game without worry.

You should check out fossil island wyverns, theres tons of pvm bots with all 99 combat stats except range dressed in granite body d legs d helm with a whip just farming fossil island wyverns, they are on nearly every world ive checked.

There is a way to end the p2p bots - remove bonds from the game. The game is only flooded with bots because rich bot overloads only risk 5 mil per bot - jack shit compared to their return profits. Jagex have given up trying to ban them as they cannot stop an army of cheap, throwaway units no more than they can stop the tide. If each bot shutdown actually cost the bot overloads $10 a pop in membership, a wipe out of 200 green dragon bots would be a savage blow of $2k to their personal finances. Repeat wipes would only add more nails to the coffin. This would also prevent the constant deterioration of price of just about every bottable item. Who wants to get 80 fishing to fish sharks for 150k /hr? Nobody, ironmen excepted. Just an opinion, personally I would be happy to pay if they reverted to the old membership format, which would probably restrict the bots to f2p. Just imagine, every bot banned, $10 down the drain for these bot creators. Once their IRL money runs out, the jig is up and they'll be forced to GTFO of runescape. Sidenote: Jagex could even add certain exceptions for higher level players so they can continue to use osrs gp, providing they are 2FA. What do you guys think, is it worth the trouble? 6 months and all the bot farms are dead. And we have Pugger to sniff out any that survive. Can't play LMS, can't fish, mine, or train any skill for money even processing is not even worth it for quick cash like it used to be. What happened man.
