Ah yes, Battle Plugs, one of my favorite parts about the game I remember I was initially worried that swapping them out during a Bro's turn would basically forfeit that turn as a cost of sorts for doing so, and I'm so happy that wasn't actually the case because the freedom to mess with the plugs just adds so much flexibility and strategy, and that's before even mentioning the synergies they have Really my only gripe with them is you don't have a way to recharge them without fully using one up, and that can be an issue for ones that have very specific procs like Surefooted Guard and Notdroppin'-and those are ones you _really_ want fully charged and ready for things like bosses

At first I was like "really? that doesn't seem very fair to not take up a turn when I change." I do not know what I was smoking because this was a great decision. I even like how it's not super easy to recharge the plugs. Mario and Luigi are already destroying everything that comes their way, with some of the stuff the plugs do I think it's better off that they come at the cost of a longer recharge period.

@@OriginalGameteer Oh, I'm fully aware, the Quick-Charge Brooch ended up replacing the HP Bangle as a "must have" equip for both Bros, and likewise I always make sure to pop Speedy Recharge in when a different Plug's about to empty My issue was you can't recharge a Plug _without_ fully depleting it, because there are a handful that you're gonna want fully charged up before a potentially tough fight that also have specific activation requirements which makes intentionally draining them more annoying Like, if Surefooted Guard is half empty and you want to top it off, you'll have to seek out an enemy that you know can inflict Dizzy or Trip, not accidentally destroy said enemy too quickly, just kinda let yourself get walloped until the Plug empties, and then go through a bunch of fights until it gets recharged I dunno, I just personally kinda wish there was someone on Shipshape you could leave partially empty Plugs with to recharge Like, you pay 1,000-2,000 coins per Plug, they're outright left with that character so you can't use them at all while they're there, and they take the full amount of turns to recharge with no Quick-Charge Brooch or Speedy Recharge benefit, but on the upside, you get a Plug fully charged without needing to deplete it first Hell, the cost could vary per Plug and Notdroppin' could be 10,000, I'd happily grind out that amount, havin' it full and ready for a boss fight is huge, there's a reason Second Chance is one of the most busted abilities in Kingdom Hearts lmao [albeit that's usually in tandem with Once More/Withstand Combo]

The battle plugs are such a fun mechanic. My biggest critique with them is there should be a button to quickly access the plug menu in battle so you don’t need to scroll to them. Although I guess that issue is mitigated by the fact you mainly want to micromanage your plugs in boss fights, and this game doesn’t have a lot of bosses.

Fun Fact: the iron ball plug ignores defense so it makes it a great plug against enemies with high defense. The best use of it is in the Krode R monster quest as those guys have insane defenses.

one of the interesting parts about brothership is its actually possible to do a complete no gear run, which includes no run down boots or hammer cuz those can be unequipped in this game (after the menu's unlocked via Snoutlet) much like in BIS or Partners in time. Brothership's Level scaling provides a consistent challenge during this run which's very nice 🤲 From what I've played doin this run, I can confirm Plugs and bros attacks will deff be required for some of da later forced fights. as for some of the sidequest bosses, I'm deff sure 3 of them are possible Jump/Hammer only. I can confirm I beat the 1st one at level 27, 8 levels under, Jump/Hammer only, so thats deff possible but super long. Brothership also has Paper Jam's speed stat mechanic, where if an enemy's significantly faster they get at least 2 actions a turn, for bosses, assuming minimum exp, thats about 3-4 actions a turn, ie it'd go like, from what I noticed: 1. Boss's 2 actions 2. Mario's turn 3. Boss's action, possibly 2 or even 3(this is actually possible, I can confirm this.) before Luigi's turn 4. Luigi's turn 5. Repeat Brothership while deff easy on the surface, is absolutely the most brutal mario and luigi game overall for a no gear challenge, let alone minimum exp, Jump/Hammer only, no items no gear, and no plugs/bros attacks, all called "nerve mode". exceptions will deff apply for plugs and bros attacks for some of the later forced fights, assumin its possible to get past them. but this is the real charm of mario and luigi, the challenge runs, they show how hard the games can actually be when we remove everything that makes each game in the series easier, changing the perspective on some bosses throughout the series. like DS BIS Dark Star for example, who is an absolute Monster in nerve mode cuz of how it works. (Vulnerable Cycle tied to both Dark Star and the bros Speed Stat. gets to potentially heal for over 30hp after 2nd vul cycle, has frame perfect orb attack if it goes top to bottom and its 4 of same color orb.) (w/o any speed upgrades both bros have to be level 36 so mario outspeeds and gets 1 extra turn in the vulnerable cycle. Excellent+POW x2 damage effect is hard-required alongside +3 stache every level.) (so Dark Star is on paper simple, cuz of the tools given. but when all of those tools are gone, it is the hardest boss in the entire game purely because of all of this stuff legit no one would ever have to think about. despite that, I will confirm DS BIS is completely possible Jump/Hammer only)

I guess people are just really cracked at the games huh, I want to do a no dodge run in this game after I beat it bc you get an attack draw so early (Bronze Medallion) and I like actually using the defensive strats bc they tend to be just as interesting as the offensive or resource-based ones. Also the M&L games like you're saying have just always been too easy for me, so no dodge is good enough of a challenge that makes it go from mild difficulty to intense but not overwhelming while still giving me a large amount of options for my loadout. Also just makes it feel more like a trad RPG. I'm a big fan of the balance that genre creates by not allowing you to just dodge attacks, so this kind of challenge also makes all the stats equally valuable in that way. I feel POW, BP, and STACHE are just really overbearingly strong otherwise. I'm glad they finally fixed speed in the newer games, but HP and especially Defense feel like opportunity cost stats to invest in unless you're new to the series.

uh, I think something rather important you should get when ranking up with both bros is the gear slot +1 (pretty self explanatory, you can wear overalls separately from gloves and accessories), since getting it unlocks a second one (at least from my experience with other M&Ls), meaning you can equip 5 different things at once (besides, Wear, Gloves and Accessories will be separated into their own slot if i'm correct)
