I know I just found this out when I posted the video. If would’ve known I definitely would’ve called her father. I always try to avoid looking up anything about characters that I haven’t met yet in the game. I’m so excited to know her backstory though! 🥰✨😇

Xianyun / Cloud Retainer was one of the main characters of this year's Lantern Rite and my gosh was it a good event. Her role during that together with her story quest actually made me pull for her weapon and try for her constellations. Hoyo did her characterisation so well and really cemented her as the best mother figure in the game for me (and I mean an actual mother, not the thirsty mommy 😂).

I heard this year’s lantern rite was so good but I missed it! 😩 but I do agree that she was a good mom to Shenhe and it shows! 😇

Ar-lek-kino is the best I can do by typing letters to describe how the name is pronounced, but if you want there are videos that show us how it is actually said in original Italian. In addition to this demo, the teaser and the collected miscellany Hoyo also released their first Animated Short for Genshin. "The Song Burning in the Embers" is the story of how this character crew up and it is quite an experience. For me knowing it did not spoil her character story, instead I was looking forward to see how it would play out. Others disagree, so use your own discretion. One thing I love about this game is how it challenges our preconceptions of characters and things when new information comes out. This has especially happened with the Harbingers that had a redemption arc. I cannot imagine what they could come up with me to forgive Dottore after wiping out the one thing I could have gone with, but we'll have to wait and see.

@@letsbekoii You really should check out "The Song Burning in the Embers", it explains her back story (some of it anyway). You will love it im sure of it XD. Also, if you like Gaming and you were not on to experience it look up the cinematic for this years lantern right. It heavily revolved around Gaming and was one of the best lantern rights that we have had so far.

@@letsbekoii Arlechino is a head of fatui intelligence agency. As well as head of the orphanage "House of the heart" which is basicly a school for future fatui soldiers and agents. Linnei and Lynnet (well and Fremine) are orphans (Linnie and Lynnet are actual brother and sister) and fatui agents Just in case - do all this stuff voluntarily. Fontain as a country dont care about orphans at all. Before Arlechino found them - survive live on the street, then were pick up by a noble (because of Linnie performances) But then this noble sold out Lynnet to some rich pedofil (man love small girls with cat ears) Here Arlechino comes into picture, kill rich bastard and save Lynnet and rest of the girls Since then Lynnet see her as a role model for herself. This apply for all orphans in "House of the Heart" - they love and respect Arlechino

The funny thing is the Fatui enemies have always had guns since the beginning of the game, we just never really saw them used more until Fontaine... I'm really glad you liked Chiori's music! I think its city pop is some of my favorite demo music but it felt so unappreciated when it released, it matched the vibe perfectly! The text in the middle of her demo just says "Chiori" in Fontaine script (yeah each region has its own script in case you didn't know already) For reasons you will learn, Arlecchino is father not mother lol

@@letsbekoii Yeah! Each region has it's own script. There's one that's often referred to as the "Teyvat script" by fans that's used a lot in Mondstadt and Liyue as well as for all the tutorials that appears to be based off of a medieval German font, but Mondstadt also has a unique script that barely has any use such that we don't have a full key for it, and Liyue has a script that resembles chinese seal script. Inazuma has a script that resembles Hirigana and Tsurumi Island's Ishine script (only one with an official name) resembles Ainu languages. Sumeru Rainforest has a script that resembles Devanagari while the desert has a script that resembles Egyptian Hieroglyphs Fontaine's script is very similar to the Teyvat script but in a fancier font All of these except Liyue Chinese script and Ishine are directly translatable with English, often being phrases written in English and then just changed to letters of the above scripts. These scripts also have a lot of similarities between them that probably has a lore reason. I'll be interested in Natlan's script too since Nahuatl has a very colourful script which is quite unique for a writing system! However, in addition to these there's a whole bunch of other scripts as well. Some are small like Aranara script or Adepti script and don't have a translation due to their infrequent or vague usage, but there are two more big ones. There's the abyss language, which in addition to looking different from the ones above, is also phrases written in Latin rather than English, and then also the Enochian script which is an irl script directly used in the game by things like the abyss mages but has a translation that hasn't been deciphered yet. Sorry about the rambling comment, I just think the Genshin scripts are really cool!

they have a making of video where they show how much work and thought they put into the design and writing of Gaming. almost every little design element and movement has a reason. it's pretty cool (and a bit insane. in a good way ^^). and he has a huge role in the cutscene of this year's lantern rite, which I can also really recommend! Xianyun, or bird mom how I tend to call her because her actual name is beautiful but I struggle so much with it ^^, is such a gem

But I’m trying to behave myself with this game or else we wouldn’t have any videos 😅 I’m glad Bird Momma got her act together because she was making me so upset in Liyue along with her little trap domains. 🫠

@@letsbekoii yeah, I feel you ^^ I am very vulnerable to rabbit holes ^^ and I know that this is not helpful at all, but here is another little gem if you haven't seen it already: the live version of Arlecchino's boss theme. it's called Absolutio Absoluta Absolutissime. and the singer... let's just say that no crumbs were left behind. at all. pigeons were starving ^^ funfact: this woman is mostly known for mezzo-soprano roles like Carmen. you will understand why I mention this ^^

loved your reaction. arlecchino is def hoyoverse cooking. her animated short is fantastic as well as her character teaser. would love to see your reaction to them the animated short gives a basic backstory rundown to how she became a harbinger and why shes called father..its really well animated, i dont consider it a spoiler as it actually gave alot more interist to the character. the teaser is spoiler free though.

@letsbekoii well there's a 7 minute animated short but before or after story quest is up to you. But considering how peak and emotional the whole Fontaine story is, I'm both impressed and in shock her quest wasn't part of the main story like another harbinger. Cause it almost brought me to tears. Genshin doesn't do that often outside of certain archon quests for me.

@letsbekoii it gives backstory to Arlecchino and how she became a Harbinger but can be seen as minor spoilers for her quest because of characters in the short, but Hoyo did put it out before they even put out her teaser or trailer so I guess it's a matter of perspective really. Regardless, it made numbers. I personally tried C1ing her after getting her and her weapon. Something I didn't do since Eula and not getting Eulas weapon until the third rerun...like way later. To be fair. I'm certain fifty percent I built her decent and she still kills everything outside of a challenge domain or spiral abyss without needing to switch unless I want to be flashy and it's not even considered lore accurate.

Chev was the main character in a Fontaine event and a lot of her story was explained there, the event is over so I hope she gets a hangout to keep part of her story in the game ngl if you call Arlecchino mother she will get angry and actually kill you, she is father and the owner of the orphanage where Lyney Lynette and Freminet live (the more you know the Fatui the more you will have sympathy with them, except Dottore obviously that guy can commit not live) also Furina's demo is being a victim of abuse of copyright strikes by a complete dumbahh, Mihoyo would never do that
