Divorced dad Scott (Tim Allen) has custody of his son (Eric Lloyd) on Christmas Eve. After he accidentally kills a man in a Santa suit, they are magically transported to the North Pole, where an elf explains that Scott must take Santa's place before the next Christmas arrives. Scott thinks he's dreaming, but over the next several months he gains weight and grows an inexplicably white beard. Maybe that night at the North Pole wasn't a dream after all -- and maybe Scott has a lot of work to do.

Actually the original idea was that Scott mistakes Santa for a burgalar and shoots him, but the studio thought it was too dark and changed it to an accidental fall.

I just found this guy today, with this video, and I’m so glad I did! I love this franchise too, so I thought I’d give him a try. Movie reactions are my favorite thing on KZbin (my family thinks I’m weird 😅). But I’m finding I’m also picky. Haha. But this guy is great! Great attitude, seems like cool family man, and really enjoyable to watch. It was fun watching him fall in love with this movie like I did and then to say he’s going to watch it with his daughters was awesome! I’m excited to see what other movies he’s reacted to!

According to the lore of these movies, if you already have a wife and children when you become santa clause, you can take them with you to the north pole when you give up your old life. So if this ever happens to you, you don't have to worry about losing your kids :) Scott didn't had this option because he was divorced and his son was living with his ex-wife and her new husband.

Not that too many would notice it, but they actually got an original OM wienie whistle from the 60's. They used to come in packages of hot dogs and were long and skinny like a hot dog. The ones they give out today look a little more like the Wienermobile with a base and wheels. They did that to make them safer for little children, they are wider so harder to swallow. We had the originals growing up.

@@michelleboosinger5251 Thats true. The "clauses" are important to know. But I sort of felt the magic was lost after the first film. But I am enjoying the series immensely. I just watched a documentary on Belfana the other day and filmed in some details the show did not.

You should definitely do Santa Clause 2. The third one is so-so. Personally, I dislike Jim Carrey a lot. I would say see the 1/2 hour one with Boris Karloff. I think it’s much better than the later one.
