In this live-action adaptation of the beloved children's tale by Dr. Seuss, the reclusive green Grinch (Jim Carrey) decides to ruin Christmas for the cheery citizens of Whoville. Reluctantly joined by his hapless dog, Max, the Grinch comes down from his mountaintop home and sneaks into town to swipe everything holiday-related from the Whos. However, the bitter grump finds a hitch in his plans when he encounters the endearing Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen).

During the scene where Martha is telling Cindy about the Grinch's backstory, Martha is actually wearing in her hair the jewels from the angel sculpture that the Grinch made for her. So Martha actually did end up keeping the gift.

I love the way Jim Carrey sang the iconic song "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" while adding his own comedic elements to it like the hilarious sound effects. And his freak out when the sleigh takes off. "We're going to die!! We're going to die!! I'm going to throw up, and then I'm going to die!! Mommy, tell it to stop!!" Also, I really love how the actress who played Cindy Lou, Taylor Momsen went on to be the front woman and lead singer of a band called The Pretty Reckless. Also, I can sympathize with The Grinch, having been a victim of bullying growing up. I know the feeling of not liking people because of it.

This adaptation of Dr. Seuss’ book is very good, giving us a lot more to offer from the first film adaptation and the source material. Entertaining and wholesome as a whole, this is a fun Christmas classic, especially with Jim Carrey’s performance as the Grinch!

I agree. And honestly, he's the one who destroyed Christmas by commercializing it when gifts and decorations don't matter. Kudos to Cindy's dad for standing up for his daughter and showing the mayor who's boss.

Naughty is putting it way too mildly. He turned the Grinch into a pariah by bullying him out of Whoville. And he didn't grow out of it as an adult. He'll never get any sympathy from me when Grinch shaves his Quaker Oats mascot hairdo (it'll always get a laugh, though) and is dumped by Martha May.

“That’s all it took?” I think it’s pretty obvious that the bullying was going on long before that. And for someone who’s usually bullied and shunned, opening up only to get rejected in such a dramatic way can be a traumatizing experience, especially in your formative years. The teasing that day was just the straw that broke the camel’s back.

The Grinch who stole Christmas and Horton hears a who are the same story. The Grinch is one of the who's from ortonville that's why he's green because in Grinch movie you see that his basket got thrown of course. So he was meant for the other who town next to it.

My theory about how the junk gets to the dump at Mt. Crumpit is that it's a vacuum tube that sucks the stuff from all garbage dumps around in Whoville, kinda like how there was a tube switching system in New York City during the 40's and 50's where you could send tubes from one floor or building to another, containing messages.

I will say that a moving bed isn't as bad to sleep on as you'd think. I got some of the best sleep in my life when I was in the Navy on a ship, the rocking would knock me right out (well, once I got past the seasickness, I started out getting pretty seasick, but Dramamine helped fix that initially, and once I got used to the rocking I didn't need it anymore). Heck, the more the ship rocked, the better I slept. I can only remember one instance where the ship rocked so hard that people fell out of their racks, and that was during a big storm at night where a wave hit the ship just right that anyone who didn't put their straps up was flung out of their racks. I always put my straps on, just in case, and I woke up when I hit them, followed immediately by a lot of "Ow!"s from those who hadn't put their straps up. Thankfully no one was really hurt.

Okay, My input on this movie. First of all, It's most of the mayor's fault he wanted the town to hate Grinch even as a child he wanted them to bully him, and then years later down the road, he tried to show up for the holiday event and he seem to be enjoying himself and being a part of something but then he is reminded of a day that wasn't good for him all thanks to the mayor, who gave him a shavers and the mayor knew that it would set him off and make everyone fear him this whole story is more about bullying the grinch then just Christmas, however point 2. But I can also see the Grinch's point of views about the greed and always wanted more and more and every year's gifts do end up in the garbage. So, he's not wrong, the town is sort of a greedy town if you ask me, the way they act, but otherwise this story is mostly about a misunderstood creature who was isolated way too long and because of the bullying he never wanted to go home. SO, he made a new home far away from everyone and only has a dog only. So, that's what I get from this movie, but still good one and the charismas story is nice in the mix of it all. It is one of my favorites that Jim Carry has done and acted in.

But I need to notify you about the prosthetics that were used on Jim Carrey to transform him. Some of us know that when prosthetics are used on some actors like Tim Curry and Angelina Jolie, they tend to come with a few unintentional side effects in the aftermath. This is especially true with Jim Carrey's Grinch. The prosthetics that were used for Jim in this film had been a painful process from the 3 hours of installation. And much of the pain Jim felt in that time had forever scarred his face. If you can look into the Jim Carrey of the 80's and 90's, then look at the present face of Jim Carrey, you can see a lot of the damage that was done to him after the prosthetics were removed.

It really says a lot about how people are that the first reaction I see reactors always have at seeing the Grinch baby that they immediately think that he would be hated by the Who's instead of welcomed to family like he is. You are one of the only people to acknowledge he should have been more caring about his mothers. "Xmas is all about presents to you guy", you say that except earlier everything you mentioned about Xmas was only about gifts and things you buy for yourself. You had no mention of the human kindness. Also one of few to only call the mayor, bad guy kind of instead of most watchers are practically frothing at the mouth to have him eternally punished and vilified.

Yeah, but then you just like a hand written letter to Santa and he knows what you want sometimes but if you just like want to see him on Christmas day and ride in his sleigh then ask him I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. Plus that’s what I’m kind of hoping for next year or at least something even better like to be stuck in the dimension for 24 hours the one that Andrew is in or at least to see faze rug because I would definitely love to see him in bolice Norway island. I think it was called but I’m not sure I’d have to look at that one again but anyway, that or a real unicorn mostly just so I could keep that one as a horse with Nessi, or as some people call it the Loch Ness monster just because I would like a baby one of those so I could breed it with my unicorn and totally have like a nice unicorn that would totally rock but at least I got Noah’s ark of unicorn for Christmas so technically, I’m still happy just a little bit because I got like a whole arc of unicorns

Well, that was supposed to be live action to. But they made the spinoff series and the spinoff series are way cool to. So you might have to think about watching some of those.
