Best walk the dog lure is the white Zerek Skittish dog 115mm. Caught heaps of Barra on them last season. Definitely give one a try

Great video John. I will be giving these a go. I've had a lot of success using the Duo Realis Pencil 130 which is a similar lure. Im using a spinning rod, an Atomic Arrowz Estuary ASS-70 ML and despite the lure being over the recommended weight for the rod I find it throws it a mile and handles the head shakes of those big girls really well. Tight lines

The triple treble is the way to go.. the big flatties seem to have a fair bit of bony stuff to get around to secure a hook up. Ausome looking lure

Hey bro. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m sure it would be a worthy choice. Lively Lures are damn good gear and timber for Topwater is sick ;) so without having thrown it I’d say definitely worth a try. A bouncy rest after you’ve paused it makes it even better. So look for that ;) I’ll keep an eye out for one to try ;)

Cheers Mark ;) I’m using a 200 Shimano curado with a 795SB Dobyns fury series Rod and I run 20lb Sunline castaway braid to FC Rock leader 20lb. It’s heavy for Flathead I know but it’s more just insurance on that rod for the bigger swimbaits ;)

I’d say there’s better weighted stick baits around for landbased stuff like you’re thinking mate. Worth asking the boys in store for some long casting options. These are pretty reasonably priced though to be fair in comparison to some Topwater baits out there.

Hey mylurebox I am having a hard time trying to catch a few Sooty Grunter on lures lately I can’t catch them on a blade and a small 2.5inch grubs and poppers because they are too keen and they are feeding on small dragon flies and other bugs I see them jump out of the water and hit the surface do you have any tips on what lures to use for Sooty Grunter mylurebox ? I have been using a Haswing Cayman GPS spotlock model and it works a treat. Just blue tooth it to your phone and throw away your anchor. Sneaky Fisho sell them.
