Are you kidding? A '71 ironhead for $500? I would sell my firstborn to find a deal like that!! 1971 was the year I graduated 🎓 from high school, and I've been wanting a '71 Sportster XLH for years!!
@MasonGeorgeMotorcyclesКүн бұрын
You can find non running iron heads for $500-$1000 all day still. It’s much cheaper in the long run though to buy a good running one for 4-6k because you’ll have that much into fixing up a $500 one before it’s perfect.

I love that 71, I owned a 79, when you fired it up it brought back memories, Love that sound! Mine was an AMF, MINE WAS A KICKSTART, I would have kept it if it had an electric start!

I would rather have the iron head… more fun tinkering around with it and having an excuse to go to the garage for some alone time 😂😂
@MasonGeorgeMotorcycles20 сағат бұрын
@@Phuq_it if I didn’t have a ton of other projects, I’d be right there with you! I have a twin cam Chopper project on one of my lifts and I’m about to start an Evo sportster hard tail project for a giveaway bike.

i like old bikes; especially the more primitive bikes, because you can always make them run and you can always find parts. i wouldn't know what to do with the KTM. it looks nice if that's your thing.

I’m with you on that for sure! In the exception of my 24 Lowrider ST and my Honda Grom everything I own has a carburetor lol

You could sell that KTM faster then the ironhead

Off top question, my buddy lives in San Jose and has ongoing issues with a Buel Thunderbolt that detonates. He is very mechanical but even he is stumped. Do you happen to know anything about older Buell's? Great vids man, I really enjoy them a lot, keep up the good work!

You should def make the ironhead road worthy for your buddy. Good trade tho

Cool bike but some some reason I was expecting it to sound more throaty. Definitely not the “potato” of a classic Harley

That KTM is not my kind of bike. And KTM is currently going out of business, so parts availability might be a problem. That should lower the value of the KTM even more.
@MasonGeorgeMotorcyclesКүн бұрын
@@geraldscott4302 I don’t think Ktm is actually going to go out of business but they are definitely going through some major restructuring and bankruptcy. Regardless, I’m sure it’s having an effect on their values. The LC4 is such a popular motor that I can’t imagine parts availability being too much of an issue.

@MasonGeorgeMotorcyclesКүн бұрын
@@seansimone-e6k that’s a great question! I would call it a naked lightweight. Very similar to the Yamaha FZ07. You could also call it a super thumper lol

Maybe the guy just needs a new hobby. Wrenching on Ironheads. You sure got the best out of the deal but yeah, KTM’s have fallen from grace lately. But man, do you look wickedly ugly when you’re mad. 😂
@MasonGeorgeMotorcyclesКүн бұрын
😂😂😂 good thing I don’t get mad too often! It’s a shame what Ktm is going through because they make such a great product. They just spread themselves way too thin along with a major downturn in the economy. I’m sure they will weather the storm though.
@wolfdog7265Күн бұрын
@ In a new version of “The three musketeers” you’d play a wicked Portas or D’artanian. 😂 The KTM brand will surely survive and parts are plenty for now. It’s a promise from their CEO (for what that’s worth) and I’m sure if he doesn’t hold his promise, many aftermarket brands will see their niche and chance. We’ve seen it before with other brands. No worries, it’s a nice bike. Deduct the rash and you’ll be fine.

Buy a BMW airhead. They just plain run. HD not so much.

I worked for BMW for 6 years along with owning several of them including a 1955 R50… with that being said I would never say that they’re better than Harley 😂 it’s hard for a lot of BMW guys to understand the sheer amount of motorcycles that Harley makes and the amount of aftermarket support along with dealer network that comes with that.
