Reminds me of my first project in PHP, where i stored the sessions using the SESSION variable on server instead of using stateless sessions, doesn't matter if it's ugly, it's knowledge

From your description, it sounds like the app is running on a Django backend since Django backends uses sqlite by default and has its own template language DTL. If what I guessed is true, then there are definitely better database options for Django - even MySQL is a better choice than sqlite. I think, aside from using sqlite which is not good for web apps, you couldn't really be faulted for writing such verbose components since you only just started out. But of course the codebase should be optimized now, I really can't see myself looking through 2000 lines of code in a file 🙈😅
