Ripley's death in the campaign was actually WAY more brutal than it is here (in fact, it's one of the most brutal deaths across all 3 campaigns), mostly because the rest of Vox Machina was with Percy during his final fight with her, and she didn't manage to get away after killing him. Usually only one person gets the final blow, but in Ripley's case the players set it up so that they could ALL get a final blow on her, and basically ripped her to pieces.

I'm pretty sure the implication with how Keyleth's dad knew it was a "him" is because he knew exactly who that person would likely be. He know his daughter very well and realized from seeing their interaction last season that there's love between Keyleth and Vax.

What about the vestige? Look closely at the moment that Vex shoots Ripley with the first arrow. Ripley flies back and the cloak comes off because Vax had pinned it to the deck with his dagger. I suspect they're still deciding if they want to write/draw someone using it next season, so they made it ambiguous whether it went down with the ship.

It's ironic that they gave Keyleth the ability to communicate like that, because druids don't actually have that ability. Which came up as a problem in the episode of the campaign that aired the very next day after this aired. 😊

Daddy knows exactly who Kiki is tied to, heh. Didn't expect the crumbling to dust in order to get her earth elemental form, though. Ripley died on Glintshore. Scanlan trapped her in a magic ball after she killed Percy, and the entire party tore her apart when he dropped it. When someone dies to the weapon, their soul goes to Orthax's realm in the Abyss, usually to be consumed. At this point, Orthax would probably chow down on Ripley right away; but the treacherous Percy deserves a slower, more painful fate. They managed to bring him back, but the updated rules for Matt's resurrection ritual would've required them to go the Abyss and permanently destroy Orthax on his home plane, first. Raishan was cursed by the Wildmother for eating one of her high priestesses, or archdruids, or some such. Instead of some other ziggurat, she teleported with Thordak's corpse to an island that served as a necromancer's prison. When a wounded Thordak washed up on his shores, he planned to transfer his soul into the dragon and become a dracolich. Pretty sure Thordak ate him first. Lichdom was the only way for Raishan to escape death, but she was still researching when VM caught up to her. More dramatic for us to see her succeed, this time.

Vex's revenge is straight from the original campaign, although much was changed other than that. Ripley's death was very very brutal in the original campaign (Spoilers if you wanna watch it!) The entirety of Vox Machina got to get their revenge, and here are some of them. Vex's arrows to her heart and her mouth comes from Laura bailey's heartbreak, "I want an arrow straight through her heart....and another in her mouth as she screams." Scanlan carves the De Rolo crest into her forehead. Vax cuts off her arm.

Ripley's death felt kinda tragic. I feel somewhat sorry for her but I don't feel sorry for her death. And that Arrow in her throat was quite satisfying. Also: I really hope they retrieve her Cloak. I feel like it would be a fantastic Vestige for Percy, as it would give him the ability to deal with magic attacks and would make him more mobile in combat as well.

Regardless of how tragic her backstory was; it doesn't excuse Ripley's actions towards the world (Percy especially.) Plus, many agree that firearms DON'T make the world a better or safer place like she claims

The only tragedy is the Twins leaving that Vestige behind. Not getting into spoilers, but Ripley saying she was doing this for the people is a lie. She sells to thieves and murderers, and when convenient, betrays innocent people to slaughter for her own gain. She's as bad as the the people who killed her father

A lot of folk keep asking about Cabal's Ruin and why Vax didn't pick it up. I keep asking, did anyone notice Vex was wrapped up in something to keep her warm, now where the hell did they get that cloth material from? Chances are, that IS the vestiage.

We see it fall off Ripley when Vex hits her with the first arrow, and it lands directly in front of Vax. Then cut to Vex and Ripley after that, with plenty of time for Vax to stash the vestige into a bag of holding. (The exact moment isn’t shown in this edit, but compare 12:34 to 12:45 and you can see the cloak was left with Vax.) I also think it makes sense that Vax might not mention the vestige to anyone else, even for fighting Raishan. He thinks the vestige should belong to Percy if possible, and in his experience, you don’t just pass a vestige back and forth between people.

This group was led by Trent Ikathon who will be a major bad guy in the Mighty Nein show coming up... when the new show comes up you will come to HATE him just like all us OG critters do. Any way I am really looking forward to how they adapt the Whispered One Dance off battle next season
