Well folks, she finally did it. She took the controls of the mill, later in the video, and did a great job. I think it worked out well. Let us know what you think. Deb wants to hear from you guys

I absolutely understand. I am so happy that she has jumped on board, and is doing all that she is. The sawmill, the log splitter, driving the big Ford or the dually with a loaded trailer behind it. She has always been a worker. Never one to sit around. You bet I realize. Thank you for your encouraging words for her as well.

A wise man and a great teacher (my former boss😊) once told me, "if I tell you, you might forget. If I show you, you might not understand. But if I tell you, show you and let you, you will always know." You Sir Chuck are of the order of wise men and great teachers. And Deb has now started on her amazing journey!! Deb's thumbs up says it all. Always great watching you guys and learning.

Thats really cool. We just got a LT35 last week and have been having a blast learning to run it. Have 12 hrs cutting time on it and every log is a new adventure in learning. She did a great job! About the only thing I think she could do better is go slower when just starting the blade into the cut. I do the same thing, it can be hard to see exactly when the blade gets to the wood.
@IronOakSawmill
@IronOakSawmill 4 жыл бұрын
The LT35 is an excellent machine. Taking a log, and turning it into something fuctional, that looks awesome. Can't go wrong there. We talked about the approach to the cut. She's headed in the right direction. Thanks for stopping in.

Great job Deb!!!!! It seems to me that Wood-Mizer could come up with a better way of supporting the sawmill, and getting it level for a job. Knowing it is a portable mill, how about screw jacks, instead of those holes in the stands placed at specific intervals???? It is a lot of work to get the mill set up precisely level with "interval" stands. And there has to be some way of gently lowering the logs when rotating them, instead of having these thousand pound logs "slamming" onto the deck. This much weight slamming onto the deck cannot be good for the mill.
@IronOakSawmill
@IronOakSawmill 2 жыл бұрын
Wood Mizer does offer a screw type to make set up easier. But that's the one thing about Wood Mizers. Because of their design, they don't have to be perfectly level to cut straight. That's the cantilever head design that makes that possible. As for the turning, I have been doing thing a bit different, and preventing the log from slamming down. We use the clamp to help lower it to the deck. It works much better

Great job Deb!!!!! My wife is pretty much a "couch potato" and won't go near the sawmill. There is actually a lot of enjoyment in working the mill, and seeing what comes out of a log. My LT35G25, no hydraulics, is much more primitive than your hydraulic mill, but still produces good boards from ugly logs. I do enjoy watching the videos you two produce!!!!

WAY TO GO DEBBIE!! I can't be prouder of you. I been there, in fact that first day lays inside all of us. Straight up got a tear in my eye over this. I really mean this, your going to find going to work a lot more fun looking at what two people can achieve as it should be. Your a team and there is no I in team. Just stay with it. What is the worst that can happen... okay embarrassment but the editor can take that out. We have all cut a stop off real good. Broken blade was my nickname for a while. Doing great and don't worry, when it happens to you, your still getting pork chops and greens. Heck the ol man might help do dishes so that next time you have time for salad too. Thats what puts it on the table....... Now lets get a roof over your heads!!

Great job Deb, I would cut that axle and weld a 3/4" x 8" square flange plate with bolt holes to each side of axle and remove that tire from the walking path of the machine and when moving time comes if at all bolt two plates together tire is now in place and down the road you go. I wouldn't be dancing around that tire especially backing up around it is dangerous operating the saw if you ask me. It would also prevent some Moron from backing up to your saw and it ending up in the middle of the woods never to be seen again. Great videos Happy sawing

way to go Deb, your better than me already, I screw up all the time lol. I have been sawing alot of pine and spruce lately, I was using the 7 degree double hard and was getting alot of wavy cuts, so I decided to put a 10 degree double hard on and what a difference, you can cut twice as fast and the finish is great (no chatter). I noticed that your inside dogs raise and lower with the outside ones, mine do not (I have the same mill) did you order it like that and do they sell a bar to hook them up to the other ones?
@IronOakSawmill
@IronOakSawmill 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Lee, and thank you. We all mess up. I'm sure there are a few mistakes for us in the future. We also use the turbos, and are cutting slow to avoid the waves. The knots are as hard as aluminum, and help cause that. Also, check your drive belt tension, blade tension, and keep the blade clean. The powered center stops were an option on the lt35. We chose that option because we wanted to get away from most anything manual, after working with the LT15 manual for so long. Contact Marty at PA Wood Mizer about adding it to your machine. He is the best with the Wood Mizer product.

@IronOakSawmill

Thank you, and welcome Chris. Only if the student listens. LOL. Which Deb is doing. The mill only has one speed going backwards. Its something to get used to. We use the loader to get rid of the sawdust. Usually just dump it at the edge of the property. Doesn't really work well for mulch. It acts like s ow, in the wind, and blows all over.

Hello Galan. We are big fans of the 7° turbo blades, and are wanting to try the 747 blades. We'll need to order a box soon. We hear a lot of good things, but want to hear about longer term testing, before we commit. Our 7° turbos work great in all sorts of wood. Never a complaint. Keep an eye open as we may be testing some of the 747 blades.

Wavy cuts, huh? Check blade tension, and remember that if the blade heats up, it will expand, which reduces tension. Also, make certain that your blade tracking is properly set. The gullets of the blade teeth should be just past the center of the band wheels. Sharpen the blade and properly set the teeth for best cutting quality and blade tracking. You may also want to check the join of your blade and give that area a tuneup, too. Search youtube for a video - bandsaw tuning for the anally retentive. It will explain everything you ever wanted to know about drifting blades and how to properly tune your machine, even if an upright bandsaw isnt laying down. Good luck!
@IronOakSawmill
@IronOakSawmill 4 жыл бұрын
All is well with the machine, and blade. Sawing Norway spruce is a challenge due to the knots being as dense as aluminum. Wide cuts are another cause. Too much blade exposed, leads to blade deflection. We are doing a trial run on using a thicker blade to reduce this.
@gregoryhalye8907
@gregoryhalye8907 4 жыл бұрын
@@IronOakSawmill a thicker blade will have a wider kerf, heat up faster due to flexing. A wider blade will track straighter, as the back of the blade rides in the kerf. If your teeth are not properly set, your kerf may deflect on you. If your blade is not set to ride just on the gullet where the crown of the wheels are, it will freely deflect in either direction randomly. Tune your saw, my friend. This will take care of 90% of the problem. Ride the crown with the blade gullet properly and the blade will naturally keep itself tracking straight. Set your teeth to ensure that you have no binding. Take care, and enjoy the life!
