I’ve ridden thousands of miles over the years. I’ve only had a couple of minor accidents, and one where I woke up in a cat scan machine at the hospital. The officer who investigated said if it wasn’t for my helmet, I may not have survived. The helmet was broken in two. I don’t remember the accident at all. But I’ve made a full recovery, and I still ride a LOT. I’d never ride without a helmet. It only takes once. Craig and Victoria, I realize they may not look cool, but a helmet could save your life, too. Sorry to be a buzzkill. I love your videos, although every time you get on your bikes, I yell “You should wear helmets!”
@livesoutdoors17087 ай бұрын
If yer going faster than you can run or are higher than you can jump you need a helmet. I’m an old horse trainer and I got old cause I wear a helmet EVERY TIME I RIDE. And I’ve got a nice collection of smashed helmets that would have been my head.❤

Helmets ARE cool! Go to a bike shop and choose among some really cool ones! Find the one that makes you look pro or you can go fast & you’re all set. My Lazer is fantastic & unfortunately I have to get a new helmet this year. Of course since electric bikes go so fast you may need a different type.

Love how you always compliment one another. It makes me have faith in humanity that people do not speak about your teeth. I have bad front teeth from a horse injury when I was younger. We were poor my parents could never get it fixed and as an adult it is now over $10,000 to fix. I’d rather take the ridicule than spend that kind of money. Bonding was really new back then, I was fortunate to have a teaching dentist next door who used bonding to fix it beautifully! He said it would last about 10 years, which it did…it broke off a week or two before my wedding!!! I was able to get it fixed in time for the big day, and I’ve had it done one more time since then. another great video. Glad you were not seriously injured and that "repairs" have been made. My first thought was to say I am only 60 so have not graduated to e-bikes yet, so I am unable to comment on an ebike accident, but that would have been rude. :) So what I will say instead is that it is amazing sometimes how quickly something can go wrong and an accident can happen. You guys handled that one really well. I am really enjoying your channel and looking forward to the next phase of your journey. The 60 day boondocking challenge was excellent. Happeeee Bday!!!! Glad the accident was not any worse!!! And, thats was a niiiiiice boondocking spot!!! Me and my wife have a pair of e-bikes that we ride a lot while we travel and we have the fingerless gloves with pad in the palms to prevent what happened to your hand. Also, we wear our helmets all the time with the chin strap snug as we have fallen a few times ourselves…part of it. On the braking, try to utilize the back brake more for an emergency stop as this will create drag on the back tire and prevent going over the handlebars by just using the front brake. As you ride the bike more, practice this and then you can use the front brake together with the back brake to shorten your stopping distance safely, and this will enable you to subconsciously stop on a dime to avert any hazard. 👍😃🍻

Going over the handlebars can be much worse. I went over the handlebars when ten years old, got a cut on my chin much like yours. Went to ER to get that stitched (there was no such thing as urgent care 52 years ago), and they insisted on skull x-rays. I had broken my jaw on both sides, no symptoms for a day or more. Undetected was the damage to my neck. 52 years later, and my neck is still screwed up. Hope all goes well for you. - GB
