I saw a different clip of CC smacking the padding. I think the refs ruled it, because it was done in anger and demonstrated her frustration. The other player smacked the padding almost to celebrate her point, like a high five to herself. The refs haven't just ruled on the act, they have ruled on the intentions of the act. The clip you show of CC seems benign compared to the other clip i saw. I didn't save the clip, but i think it was short. Edit: the clip i saw was her 5th technical, from about 4 weeks ago. This technical was very mild compared to that one. If she gets 7, she'll gets a suspension from the regular season before it resets for the playoffs.
