I am also appalled by some of Savers policies, especially going to all self-check. They can't even claim to be employing people and creating jobs. I avoid self-check as much as possible due to I do not like it when jobs are eliminated. I went to a grocery store in Nevada recently, they had only one cashier, the rest were all self-check. I like to interact with a person as well as knowing the money I spend with a business is helping support someone. We do not have them in my area but I would not shop with them nor donate to them if we did.

We don’t have Savers in my busy city, but I started going to the self checkout at WalMart because ours never had enough registers open, the lines were always very LONG with people with carts piled high, Express lines were even longer and the cashiers were terrible at bagging or resentful if I had my own bags … I am a small family so it was much faster to check myself out. Now, even with 2 self checkout pods, our Super Walmart still has about 20 checkouts manned with cashiers, even though there are several other WalMarts within 10 miles … like I said, busy city! @@wandajuul5150 Yep. Retail jobs really stink. I spent 11 years in produce of a large grocery chain. The pay is an insult, unless you want to live with mom & dad forever or hold 3 jobs with different companies. Too many slacker employees punching in getting a paycheck for doing nothing so the work load & blame is dumped on those who actually work. Such a joke. Very depressing job.

I stopped going to Savers about 15 yrs ago. I drove to 2 of them in Reno and Sparks from VC. There used to be tons of smaller shops in Reno worth going to. I'm stuck with just a few in Carson. When I dropped off my sick laptops, I had to wait a few minutes for them to open and I noticed the brand new antique store 2 doors down was open! I spied a whole shelf unit full of Polish pottery. Most matched, but the prices were high. Not as high as new retail, but paying $17 for a small spoon rest...! Nope! I found 2 teapots at thrift stores in the last few months on my own!

@lynnettepham98262 жыл бұрын
Hey Danni, a note about the DONATION COUPONS. At our Savers, each donation coupon is good for up to $100, but if you have more than one coupon you can use it for the items that exceed $100. For example, if you have $150 in purchases and you have 2 coupons, you can use your first one for the $100 and the second one for the $50. You can use them for every $100 even if it is during the same visit. I learned that one day when I had a large purchase and the manager who was checking me out asked me if I had any more coupons (which I did) and explained the policy to me.

These prices are like the prices at the Goodwill store closest to me. They've really bumped up their prices over the past year, especially clothing. With clothing going to landfill - like the one in a desert - it seems they'd lower prices just to get something from their inventory. They do have job connection services to help people find training and jobs. They don't have self checkout because some of their trainees are training in the store. That's the one good thing about them.

Here where I live in Ohio we get no 1\2 price days we do get colors days and they hide the senior shopping days. Pro Picker lives a couple miles from me and he's killing it! A vcr for me $25 for him $3.69. John Cincinnati Picker won't even look at a goodwill he garage sales all summer and does buy outs. Josh Harry Tornado and his wife are hitting the early morning flea markets. I'm just learning but I would say Goodwill is dead for resellers. Have a wonderful evening I love watching you and Tiffany you guys make a great team.

Yup, here in Edmonton, Alberta Canada too. I don’t shop Value Village (SAVERS) anymore and a lot of others I know too.

Savers is ridiculous, I stopped shopping there too. Lately my only deals have been Garage Sales, but I keep looking🤣🤣🤣

Catching up on some older videos, came across this one where you are talking about Savers. If I am not mistaken Savers in the US is the same as Value Village here in Canada. V.V. Has been here in Canada for about 25 yrs, but Has gotten just as bad here. I used to be able to go in and buy pants, top, jacket for less than $15.00, now you can’t buy a tee for less than $10.00. Unfortunately we don’t have the thrift stores here that you have in the US. Our Goodwills sell mostly clothing. But fortunately, I live across from Detroit, so I can still find some bargains over there. Love watching your site as well as Tiffany’s, and the Nomad. Learn so much. Good luck in your new store, it looks great.

The top of the hucth would make a great display case. Put it on round (3-4")feet! I saw a hutch like that and it looked perfectly good and functional!

I agree with you and the prices! I have been following you for years 👍however, is that not what you do ( with no disrespect) buy from nonprofit at pennies on the dollar for resell? Also being a thrifter for over 40 years I remember the goodwill controversy of the same sort. Happy shopping!!
