Currently building an 84 CJ7. The lesson Matt has taught me is that there will always be some part that fails when you upgrade and you will continue to chase it. When you upgrade that failure the next weak spot will get yah. Think I will leave mine relatively stock.

@NBSV12 жыл бұрын
Depends on what you’re doing with it. Keeping it stock works fine if you’re just driving on the road and a little light off roading. Simple things like bigger tires can make it way better off road, but that puts more stress on the drivetrain, steering, and suspension. At that point the stock stuff won’t hold up. At the end of the day you need to have an idea of what you expect the vehicle to do and work towards that goal. It’ll likely be broken parts no matter what.
@chazfaz35952 жыл бұрын
Interesting conclusion. So if you have all (weak) stock parts and you attempt to put them through this level of abuse, you will not be "chasing it"? Chasing parts is the destiny of those who are inexperienced and don't take advantage of the wealth of experiece out there. A stock rig won't be able to handle much. That's a key lesson. I don't think Matt is chasing anything anymore. It seems apparent that he now knows exactly where the weak links are, and is slowly working them out. What I think I learned is to either learn from his experience & duplicate his formula, or limit the abuse to the level your fab skills and vehicle can handle.
