Emma the leaves left behind are the very places bees hibernate. Most people clean up far too much and the beneficial insects are driven away.. I put bee houses out for this same reason. The other bees need a clear space to tunnel into for both nests and hibernation.

@@beverley1539 KZbinrs can sign up to monetize their videos which means they get a share of advertising revenue. Monetisation platforms like Patreon or Ko-fi (which are unrelated to Google/KZbin) allow people to support content creators on KZbin and other websites. Emma doesn't have this though. Not sure why as I think she would do really well with either - it's basically viewers give a small amount per video or per month - like £3 or something - There is usually tiers but I would think that is optional. I think Patreon allows content creators to do things like polls and text chats with patrons and probably loads of other things to interact with patrons. Lots of allotment growers on KZbin use Patreon and I've seen a few who use Ko-fi. I know Emma also does things like product promotions which she probably gets a little from. KZbin itself has its own "Super Chat", "Super Sticker" or "Thanks" options where viewers can easily donate a bit of money to the creator. But again Emma doesn't have this option turned on for some reason. Not sure why as if she had a Patreon and turned on the Thanks thing on KZbin she could probably get minimum of a few hundred pounds a month or maybe a couple of thousand. I don't use Patreon myself but I have used the "Thanks" option on KZbin a few times for the allotment channels I follow - I like the simplicity of that feature as a viewer.

Hi Emma, you need to fork the compost pile over (forks depth) to prevent anything from growing. By forking it over, it also speeds up the decomposition.

I think leaf mould is quite good to use as a potting mix for seeds as it is very fine and seeds don't need nutrients until they get their true leaves. Compost is tricky. I know Charles says chuck it all in but I don't put perennial weeds in it or seed heads as they will grow unless you have a lot of material to add to the compost bay every day. If you keep burying them they will die but it's quite labour intensive to do that.

Charles Dowding has huge compost bins which get up to 60°c. The bigger the mass/size of your compost heap, the higher the temperature. Those higher temperatures kill of new growth and destroy seeds so they can't grow. It doesn't work the same if your compost pile is small. The breaking down into finished compost takes much longer in smaller compost piles.

Great job like always! It’s still looking great. Just wanted to say for the compost bin and things growing, 2 options you can try…. A compost accelerator ( never personally tried it but always see it in the garden centre. Or What I do once a week is turn the pile over with a fork so the fresher stuff is underneath all the good rotting old stuff. Nothing gets a chance to grow. Apart from rogue potatoes. Hope this helps. Happy gardening all

I think the main reason you cover cauliflower heads with it's own leaves is to stop the sunlight discolouring white cauliflowers. The sunlight turns them grey-ish which doesn't look nice. For purple cauliflower varieties I think you want the sunlight to hit the cauliflower head because it helps it turn more purple.
