I do animal rescue - with a specialty in super baby kittens. I have had several "bottle babies" of my own as well. They become the absolute best cats! It's the early socialization that makes them just bond so much more with you. My last bottle baby is now 10 yrs old, and he literally follows me room to room like a dog. He is my best friend. Not only is that kitten so lucky to have been saved by you, I think you will find out that she will save you, too, in time.

What a super lucky kitten!! I truly don’t understand how people can do stuff like that but I’m so glad you were there at the right time to help her. I foster kittens and you guys did an amazing job, especially considering how young she was and it was your first time (I assume) taking in a bottle baby. All the kudos to you, what a great story!! ❤

We bred from one of our Himalayans years ago and she was a wonderful mother, except she expected my Wife and I to actively help her care for her babies. From day one, birth, she expected us to be there to help. This was so beautiful, to share her experience, to have earned her trust, to share in such private event. She would bring the babies up during the night to sleep with us, the whole 9 yards, a wonderful experience. She had 3 litters, all the same, but we had to have her fixed, we couldn’t handle it - getting the kittens homes and letting them go tore our hearts out. Congratulations to you and Josh, well done, you are both blessings and angels.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! I can’t imagine how rewarding it must have been helping your kitty raise all those babies 😊 I probably would have 100 cats if I was a breeder because I wouldn’t be able to part with any of them lol

Thank you so much for replying @@KawaiiTako. Helping Lady Penelope give birth, by her demand was indeed an honour shared by very few and we hold those times as one of our most favoured moments. Cats usually find a secluded place for birth, but not our little Mama 😂😂. I’m 67 now and we have been married for 43 years 1 month 1 week and 6 days at time of writing. Every one of our pets dogs and cats was a rescue , we were their final chance for life and they were all worth it, from Phoompuss Delectii (Phoomp for short) 1977 (before marriage) through to Possum today. They have all been the most loving, devoted magnificent members of our family. They all have a sad story, some were broken, most were fine. I had a couple of industrial accidents which left me, well, not so good physically. Anyway, we rescued a couple of puppies from a couple who weren’t caring for them correctly, the mother had already killed 2 of the pups so we took over, we grabbed the two 5 week old survivors and ran. We gave the happiest one to a friend once they were feeding properly and we kept the psychotic little fellow, very angry little bloke, he was mine, my project, he hated the World, but I saw through it. He spent 19 years with us and I can remember every single second he was with us. He had his quirks, didn’t know how to play, couldn’t handle children running around the house (as grandchildren do) and would escape to his safe zone. He went totally blind at 14 and I became his seeing eye person and loved every minute we were together. At times I’d get carted off to hospital and PJ would howl the house down going frantic looking for me, it drove my wife nuts, so much so that she would smuggle him in each day for a visit. PJ couldn’t help but show how he felt, then lay with me and settle right down. Yes we got caught, but because he was clean and quiet they “saw nothing”, they loved the little fellow. He passed away in my arms at the vets, with my Wife and the vet (who absolutely adored him). We all cried and cried, vet included. We’ve lived here for 42 years and have watched the vets come and go, they all knew us and our animals, when we left on that fateful day every staff member stayed behind and waited to share and honour us when we left long after their closing time. PJ is in my heart and in an urn beside our bed now, for a year he came with me along with snacks, water bottle and dish. He had so many crazy quirks like, if he wanted to get into bed he would walk up my chest and look at me. When I’d wake and look at him he’d bare his teeth and growl. I’d lift the blanket and he’d slip under the covers and nestle into me. I’d give him a gentle pat and he’d growl, same ol’, same ol’. When he passed I said to my Wife, “I can’t do this again” and she nodded. That was 4 years ago. About this time last year she came into me with a rather strange bump under her shirt, she was in tears saying “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry….” then pulled out a tiny little 9 month old female Chihuahua. Before saying anything I grabbed “Possum” and shoved her up my shirt and held her to my heart while my Wife told me her story - born into a fractured family and was on her way to the vets for final trip. “She’s home now” was all I could muster. About 10 minutes later Possum popped her head out of the neck of my shirt, gave me a kiss and things have progressed from there. It took her about 2 weeks to get used to the grandkids (4 grandkids + their parents live with us - hectic household) running around, but now she joins in, 😂😂. Both our current cats come from abusive homes, they cannot be nursed and one of them bites me hard every single day but sits with me when I’m doing my computer work and lays with me on my bad days. What you guys have done is absolutely wonderful and we congratulate and thank you. Yes you will suffer heartache along your path but the rewards are worth it. You guys have done a magnificent job, you are good people. We wish you long life, prosperity and a very Merry Christmas. Cheers from downunder P.

I can confirm that it is extremely difficult to tell what sex a kitten is until they get a little older. We take in everyone that shows up at the door - we live in the county and it's sad how many that is - so we get a few pregnant mamas in there. I've just stopped naming them until I am sure what sex they are. Currently our eldest is a black cat that appeared as a two week(ish) old when we had an older litter and a cat that was still pregnant - no other mamas. No idea where he came from. We were planning a weeklong trip to PEI (We had an opportunity to be transferred there and wanted to see if we liked it there, look at houses, etc.) so I had about a week to convince the mother of the older litter to adopt this one. Luckily, she was an amazing kitty and when we arrived home, having cut three days off the trip, the little guy was thriving! It was the first thing I did when we got home - I literally jumped out of the car and ran straight to the barn to check on him! He grew up to be our very first house cat, and he was our very first rescue - at the time we had recently acquired our first barn cats, two of whom turned out to be pregnant females. We have no idea where he came from to this day. Our best guess is that one of the cats found him while out wandering around and brought him home. However it happened, we're certainly glad it did!! He's a stately older gentleman now, and my husband's best buddy!
