Thanks for reminding me. In 1982 I caught a large mouth in Lake Amacoy, NW Wisconsin. After 40yrs, still never caught another tagged fish. That tag looks big don't it, same with mine. It was tagged (dnr) a year earlier. I'm surprised I never caught another one. Maybe it is once in a lifetime, in my case at least.

My father fished for crappie and yellow perch and sometimes white perch in eastern Virginia for the last 15 years of his life. At least three times a week. he was retired and called fishing "going to work" He called them all "perch." There was no size limit, but he wouldn't keep crappie unless they were 11in. I'm like you I think a 10in crappie is the best eating size.

I love crappie fishing. Our Game and Fish Agency destroyed our fishery by filling the lake with stripers. Don't understand a limit on them. They tend to overpopulate out here in lakes that have them; so it is good that we could keep 9-inch ones.
